Are folk just making overpayments as and when? I'm saving up and making an overpayment each month on the same day as my normal payment, but am I better to just make an overpayment as and when I've got a spare tenner?

I'd love to join in with this, but am worried are OPs would be laughably small compared to everyone else's! We only started trying to OP last year and I averaged a paltry £40 a month. Also, we're going to be taking out a third  mortgage to adapt the house at some point this year, so our mortgage will actually be going up. Would I still be able to join and just ignore this and count any payments above an beyond whatever our normal monthly payments are with either the 2 or 3 mortgages?

easylife no matter how small the OP it all adds up and reduces the interest. Join and do it whatever way is best for you. When I first started 4 years ago my monthly ops were 50. It all helps.

#68 First op of 600 gbp has gone out this month.
MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different
  • Thanks skaps, go on then, I'll join! Do I need to PM JCL or just put it here? I'd like to put £1000 as a target but I'd rather put a lower target and not have to take out as much with the third mortgage, as it will be at a higher interest rate than the current two, so I think I'll aim for £750, which I think would make mine the lowest target on the spreadsheet :rotfl: Don't mind what number I am.

I have overpaid £1,000 on my mortgage this month, hopefully this is the right place to put this so it can be added to the spreadsheet.
