Are folk just making overpayments as and when? I'm saving up and making an overpayment each month on the same day as my normal payment, but am I better to just make an overpayment as and when I've got a spare tenner?
I would set up a regular OP with your normal direct debit as that way you get used to that money going out. Then lots of people also send small payments to round current accounts or mortgage balance down to a round number or whenever they get extra income. e.g. quidco or halifax rewards. Also if you manage to save money because something costs less than you budgeted for. I do all these things then also on payday if theres money left over and I don't have any big bills coming I use some of that too. It all adds up ;-)2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

Not sure if we'll make an OP this month as my two DSs are getting Christened at the beginning of Feb so some expenditure there. Plus Christmas credit card bills to come in yet. And there's an Asda baby event so I'm hoping to stock up on nappies. So I will probably leave it til after the Christening and see how much is left. On the plus side my freezers are full and I still have money left on Asda Christmas Savings cards. (Filled two with the max £145 to get the £5 bonuses the day after) Was delighted when I realised that I could use my cashback credit card to buy them. Next year I will budget to buy a few poss with a new cashback credit card on a bonus rate.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013
