A Singularly Lonely Christmas

Ive not done it yet but I was looking into setting up a cat sitting service in my local area, Id charge around £5 an hour, but some people charge about £8-10 an hour. I think £5 an hour would be ok if you can spare it, when I say an hour, Id be happy to take £5 per visit if it went on a bit longer than an hour. For a £15 year old thats not bad money either I think.0

Pauline, I'm a cat/small pet sitter! I charge around £6 for 1 visit, £10 for 2, but I am very rural, and petrol costs a small fortune, so I don't make a great deal (also costs for insurance, joining a reputable pet sitter association etc) subsidised with WTC. I am also an animal lover and wish I had someone to do the business side, because what comes out of my mouth is, "oh that's alright, make it £5...(or whatever)"...:rotfl:
I drove 900 miles one awful 2 weeks this year.
I often spend longer than an hour too, but my T&C's say 20 mins per visit.0 -
Hello LB, I have 2 henny girls. They live in a coup with a small run. usually they have the run of the garden but the wind has blown down my fence so the girls are confined to quarters.
They need feeding every other day ( a big scoop of food and the water to be full). I can go away for the weekend ie Fri to Sun and they'd be ok.
If you need somebody to make sure they've got home ok and lock them away from the foxes, feed them and check the water - I'd give the teenager £5 a check.
Cleaning out is not really a teenager job, but I'd pay another £5 for that, and put the cleanings on the compost heap.0 -

Aye, it is good money, and will bankrupt me! :rotfl:
I really don't want to pay by the hour for a 10 minute task like opening a pop hole and putting out fresh water, so would prefer to agree terms for tasks rather than by the hour.
Remember, she won't have insurance costs/travel costs etc - 2 minutes walk/2 mins work (mostly)...0 -

Ive always had cats and I did try and get something started earlier this year but didnt really have the time as I was concentrating on my fitness stuff, but given that Im self employed and want to stay self employed and not go back on the dole, my fitness classes do ok but Im not rich by any manner of means, I thought I might do something like that. I have business cards, just need a push to get them out there.
Im lucky in that when I go away my mum feeds them, but if I didnt have her Id be stuck as I cant afford to pay cattery fees and I wouldnt want to put them in a cattery anyway. They would hate it, mine are all rescues, the last thing I would do is let them think they are being abandoned again.0 -

You could maybe pay her by the week then, depending on what she does. Maybe £10 a week if you want to break it down into smaller tasks.0 -
I must be awfully stingy.:..I wish I earned £5 for something so simple...
I was thinking more like £5 for a visit in the morning and evening, if I'm away...I'm clearly out of step with teenage expectations...it's been that long since I was a teenager myself... :rotfl:0 -

hello!
Why do you feel cleaning out isn't a teenager job?
Thanks for the info on weekends, that's good news! Any longer, obviously needs covering.
cheers!

LavenderBees It was so lovely to meet you and really enjoyed your company. Im sure we will manage some outings.
The universe is now putting things your way. Such as the pet minder notice. No such thing as a coincidence.
Got home and did a few jobs before my daughter arrived. Ozzy the cat AKA as the ginger ninja has been keeping her amused.
Tomorrow will be a day of relaxing before going back to my voluntary job on Monday.0 -
I think that sounds ok, £5 for two visits. Id do that even as an adult. My fitness classes are cheap, I charge £3 an hour, I live in a poor area and my prices havent gone up since 2010, thankfully I have a very cheap hall now that only costs me £10 an hour.0
