  • I've raised the issue of STICKY threads in general in the general feedback of the forum and also filed the suggestion to make more prominent info for newbies via a separate report.

I also started the same sticky thread intended for this sub-board but it ended up in motoring section: (Whoops)

I've moved it over to this board :)

CM - would you prefer if this thread was closed to new posts?

Only side effect is that you wouldn't be able to edit the first post, though I'd be happy to open the thread as needed for you to make changes.

Maybe take away all the posts into a new thread first, leaving just coupon OP only? Then close it to new comments until an edit is needed for some point.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

I've created a new thread here with a copy of CM's original post:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4835819

CM - could you please edit the OP of that thread so it's clear it's an archive thread where I can easily move dead comments? Board Guides aren't allowed to edit other members' posts otherwise I'd have done this for you.

Also could you insert a link at the end of your OP here to state that old/unnecessary posts are moved to the other thread?

Stroma - in case you're wondering - if I create a new thread now and then move the above posts over, the forum software will arrange them in chronological order which will mean someone's random post from this thread will end up being the OP in the other one.

I know this may be a bit complex but from experience this is probably the easiest way of dealing with the stray posts given that this sticky thread will probably continue to receive replies.

For the avoidance of doubt, where a newbie posts a query about a parking charge, it can still be split into a new thread for them. Any other posts that don't really fit anywhere else (or where a newbie has already reposted in a new thread) can be moved to the archive thread.

UPDATE: Posts have now been moved over to the archive thread. Future posts will be moved here as needed.

I've deduced from 2½ hours of trawling through these forums that simply ignoring these letters is no longer a worthwhile option.
You should have also deduced that you should start your own thread for your query, not tag on to a general info "sticky".

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

    Sorry - missed that bit.
  • Hi, this is my first post, thank you for all the info regarding these parking tickets. My first enquiry is I have today received a parking charge notice (7/1/14) for parking on the 22/12/13 this is more than the 15 days you say I should receive it, what do I do now?

You follow the already-stated advice and START YOUR OWN THREAD.
  • APOLOGIES! there's no need to shout, I'm not well & found all the info confusing.

No-one meant ill, truly, Miss H. I too found it all overwhelming to begin with.

Just go steadily, read. Stop, walk around. Come back.

Good luck. Keep coming back for advice, a run-past of comms.
