Sometimes you win prizes you weren't expecting. Recently I won a runners up prize in a competition, a vibration plate and an ipod nano - as I've already got an ipod touch and no room for a vibration plate, I sold them both and had a lovely weekend away with the family instead. I didn't enter the competition with the intention of selling the prizes, in fact in 5 years of regular comping these are the only prizes I have sold.

I think you took that too much. I didn't say everyone enters to sell.

No hun, I know what you meant, I should have phrased it better :(

My 'mother' was one of those who used to enter everything and also buy every 'bargain'.Irritating.But not as irritating as Christmas or birthdays when she would get things out if the piles of !!!!! to give to everyone.Nobody wants that and there's no thought in it.Sadly,I know many people do that kinda thing and they're wasting their own time too (much the same with buying cheapy toiletry sets lol).I know not all do though.

Everytime I enter a comp, and I speak for a huge crowd of compers here I'm certain, I think "That can be for XX" or "XX would love that!" etc.

I've forgotten what else I was going to add as Baby B threw up all over me and we had to shower :(

Exactly. And look how many are sold on ebay or various other places?

If it's something you really want fine, but entering so much for anything isn't right.

I only enter for prizes I want. I have a horrible guilt complex and entering for things that myself or my family doesn't need/want just doesn't sit right with me. If I do win something I don't want (a runners up prize when I was entering for the main one) then I give it to charity. I got it for nothing so it doesn't seem right making money out of it. This is just my opinion though.

At the end of the day, people can enter for whatever they want. Morally it might not be right for people to enter for anything and everything but at the same time we don't know their circumstances. Alot of people are struggling financially and desperate times call for desperate measures. Nobody has the right to tell anyone else how to comp or to judge them for it.

It really upsets me when someone is so anti-comping :(
Life is supposed to be happy and fun and comping makes compers happy and I'm not afraid to admit I really enjoy it

I enter nearly everything but that's because I'm so lucky to have an expansive range of friends and family so there's rarely a prize that can't be used, I know a fisher, a horserider, many with babies and children, a cat lover, etc.

In my opinion only, it feels soooooo good knowing I haven't paid :p for luxuries because it means i have more money to spend on necessities and charity

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT with their own circumstances so compers comp on :)

Everyone enters for their own reasons, whether its for family, to sell on Ebay or whatever. No-one is going to change anyone else's moral comping issues. Live and let live.

Genuine question.Does it make you feel good that you didn't buy them?

I'd imagine it felt pretty good not to have to get into debt or scrimp & save to give people some great gifts.

Sure there are some really awful, pointless prizes to be had out there, I don't bother to enter competitions for a branded fish slice or a keyring I've got more to be getting on with in real life. But some of the prizes companies offer are fantastic. I'd say that spending 1 minute (yeah, some comps literally only take 60 seconds) to enter for a ipad, smart TV or a holiday is worth my time, I might just win :D

I wonder if all those slagging off us compers would turn their noses up at the big ITV wins like £40K or trip to Oz?

Who pays for things ;) I'm not here to save money unless on things I NEED and wouldn't mind a discount and I don't go for freebies thanks

I have, however, been on the receiving end of gifts from compers and 'bargain grabbers' and, like most others, really wish they wouldn't bother:o

You sound more bitter than those people you are slating. Be sad if your 'mother' realised how you felt towards her gifts.

Plus I don't see what the difference is in spending time on MSE like you do to spending time on MSE and entering comps with regards your point in people having nothing better to do. Most people do other things in life as well as come on here but there may be some who physically can't get out as much.

I personally don't see the point in entering anything and everything, I barely find time to enter for what I would like/need but everyone enters comps for different reasons and we don't always know what they are.

As for the F&B comp, totally put me off using them by their attitude! PR fail.
