Shegirl I'm a proud comper my son for his 16th had dream pressies yesterday of an iphone 4s, £360 credit, a nixon dslr ( £300) and £100, all courtesy of my recent comp wins, so if that makes me sad I'm proud of it.
Love my hobby x
I'm not going to feed you trolls anymore as I'd rather enter those comps you hate so much x#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

Genuine question.Does it make you feel good that you didn't buy them?If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
I could easily buy them, Hubby has a fab job in the city, it makes me feel really good we didn't spend a penny on his pressies. As we can put the money towards his uni fund etc.

I won a meet & greet with The Saturdays for my daughter - I gave her the tickets for her birthday. That was something I couldn't have afforded otherwise, her birthday being 3 weeks before Christmas. Her present I bought was a phone.
The experience that I WON created a memory, something none of my daughters friends have done, something she may never get to do again.
Her phone broke 16 months after having it.
See where I'm going?Thanks to all posters :A0 -
Woahh! I am an admin of a swap group on FB - yes people sell, but I can't go around ordering people not to sell, don't mention anything against sellers on here either (thread will be locked / deleted but not before everyone comes on to say how wrong both sides are!)
Not everyone enters to sell, not everyone enters everything. That's their personal choice anyways so let's just leave it at that!
Nice to see they've commented Mel, shame they should have just used the term "Cheat" instead of "Professional".
I think you took that too much. I didn't say everyone enters to sell. I said I have seen a few people (not loads, a few) who seem to put up a new win frequently. I get some people might do it to make money etc. but some people I know personally and it's seems more 'professionally planned' lol. I'm not even saying it's bad. I said maybe that's a slight meaning of the comp terms too. I honestly made no generalisation so I don't get the exclamation marks on your post.
And yes it is their personal choice. I didn't say they can't do it. The thread is about what a professional comper is, I said what I've seen but it's not the definition of it but my thought on what companies might see. People posted wondering why people enter so many competitions for things they don't want anyway, giving people who want the item less chance of winning, so this kind of tied into both things.
It's not the definition, not the generalisation, just a few sentences. Don't take it badly. It's a light hearted discussion.Cup of Tea? :coffee:0 -
I don't really see why, just because somebody doesn't approve of another person's hobby, they have any right to pass judgement on them. I both enter and run competitions and I'm sure, even if the winner doesn't go on to buy another item, they will still be spreading the word by using it and commenting on it. It's just a hobby. I try hard not to enter for things I don't want, but I enjoy getting a nice surprise in the post sometimes. As hobbies go, it's a bit like fishing, really.0

Shegirl, clearly you have come here to cause trouble. That says more about you than any of the rest of us here. You are entitled to your opinion. You want to write off the 100s of great people who use this forum, then be my guest. None of us need to justify what we do to you – besides which, what would be the point? You have made your mind up, and that is your problem, not ours.
I’m anti hunting, but I wouldn’t go search out a hunting forum to tell ‘em all off. Why would I do that? Just to cause upset. I don’t even write off the people who take up that hobby. It’s the hobby I loathe, not the people.
You think you know all about us. We’re greedy, we’re sad, we’re selfish – LOL. You carry on believing that if it suits you. You obviously have your reasons to be so intolerant and judgemental. As I say, this is your issue, not ours.

A meet and great is not something you could buy though and isn't the same as entering anything and everything as so many do.
I couldn't 'win' a present for ds unless an experience that can't be bought it wouldn't feel right, not for birthdays or Christmas!
My 'mother' was one of those who used to enter everything and also buy every 'bargain'.Irritating.But not as irritating as Christmas or birthdays when she would get things out if the piles of !!!!! to give to everyone.Nobody wants that and there's no thought in it.Sadly,I know many people do that kinda thing and they're wasting their own time too (much the same with buying cheapy toiletry sets lol).I know not all do though.
However,I do think companies are right to crack down on 'professional compers' as a matter of fairness. If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0
