I seem to have more body lotions than anything else, mostly from gift sets. I'm a bit lazy about applying these so they always hang around long after the perfume/showergels are gone. They also take ages to use up! There's enough in my stash to keep me as slippery as an eel for the next decade I reckon.

laughed out loud at this. I'm in exactly the same boat.

Will need to buy very little toiletries next year, have enough shower gel and bubble bath to clean an army.

Well done cakeadoodle, body lotions and butters are one of my big problems too. When I went out to work, even though time was short, I had a morning routine that gave me just enough time to body moisturise, then eat breakfast then dress etc. Now I am at home all day I was struggling to do it even a couple of times a week. Having looked out a few OK but not special lotions and butters I am making myself use them before I am allowed to open anything nice. So far 1 used, 1 will be gone in less than a week and 1 more sitting there mocking me LOL. Bonus is, already rather dry skin us looking and feeling much better.

One idea that I pinched from And, is that any days that I am wearing socks and boots or trainers I moisturise my feet then put on my socks and let it sink in, I rarely have to think about dealing with hard skin on my feet nowadays.

I have come to the conclusion also that there is very little I am going to need to buy in 2014

    INS

    Presents
    2 piece lush set
    10 piece lush set
    4 piece lush set
3 piece harding and Baylis set
1 hand wash again Harding and Baylis
3 neutrogena hand creams from my mom
    2 philosophy shower gels
    3 piece boots cranberry set

    Sales
16 items from enchanted but this was ordered weeks ago and arrived today
126 items from lush ( this includes an online order that I have not got). I know I don't need it but for me it is the only time I will get this for half price and I do love it.

I am going to start a fresh in January as I am failing at the task of actually not buying things.

    UU's
    Strawberry sugar scrub WNBA

Elemental herbology cell plumping moisturiser WMBA

Hydraluron WBA this lasted forever so definitely got my money's worth

Yves rocher dandruff shampoo WBA it actually agree with my scalp and did not make me itchy

BS raspberry shower gel WNBA don't like the scent, does make a good bubble bath though.

    Have another UU to report:

Lucy Minerals Foundation 5g - WBA, I love this mineral foundation, better than Bare Minerals for sure! I already have the full size in my shade, so will be using this for the weekend when I don't need full coverage like I have to wear during the week for work.
    Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £
    LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000
    Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 2017
  • OK naughty step. You and I are going to become very familiar with one another!

I've been to the sales. I intended to buy a Sanctuary Spa gift set in the sales, I like their travel sized products, as they work out at £1.20 each in the sale (vs around £3 normally) - these are very useful, as I go up and down the country quite a bit, and it seems silly not to buy them when they're cheap. This makes up 5 INs though.

I always live in hope, and hoped there might be a glitch on 3 for 2 for sale items, so I got a Ted Baker gift set as well. 4 INs - shower gel, body souffle, bath cream and body spray. Again, all useful, because it's all travel sized. I mostly bought it for the pretty box though :o

It's not as bad as it could be, as most of it will be used up quite quickly.

I'm back :D hope everyone had a lovely time over Christmas.
I'm just going to go back through and catch up with the thread. I have no INs :T and a couple of UUs, mainly sample tubes and minis.
I hope no one on here has been caught up in the winter chaos, hasn't this weather been awful.
    Back soon x :)

  • Hi All,

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas, ours has been fab, couldn't have asked for it to be more perfect really. Very lucky! rogueylawyer I got a Swarovski necklace too which is one of my favourite presents. My sister and her husband bought it me to match a bracelet they gave me at their wedding, its beautiful.

I've a few UU to declare and then I'll list my gifted IN and also my sales haul tomorrow I think when I've time to play with everything :D..... The list isn't massive I didn't buy as much in the sales this year as I did last but its definitely not small either! :o

    UU are:
Gok Wan Purely Yours bubble bath - This is a GA, smelt nice but used once and I had a bit of a reaction around my chest/neck. Not sure if it was to do with its age but don't think it was all that old, might just have been a bit too perfumed. Gave to Mum.

S & G Fab Pore hot cloth cleanser - WNBA - Did nothing for me, was very meh IMO

OS Lemon & Teatree shower gel - Think I'd have prefered this without teatree, make it a bit too medicinal seeming - WBA in a different fragrance

REN Evercalm Global Protection day cream - WBA on a decent offer, definitely calmed my neck down when I'd had the reaction to the bubble bath, pleasant smell and consistency too.

Finally.... fanfare please..... S & G Righteous Butter :T:T:T:T If I'm completely honest there's probably a use or so left in this but I'm done, sick to death of it, didn't enjoy using it and now I've got better, nicer stuff I really like I'm not finishing it off, in the bin it goes!! Suffice to say WNBA, I'm just not a fan, find it too thick and hard to rub in and the smell a bit sickly. I have quite a few gifted S&G products between my Mum and my Auntie but I didn't notice any of this... phew - althought I've at least two Hand Foods which I really don't like, I'm kind of hoping one might have gone off as its wont to do, as my Mum and Auntie tend to hoard things too so could be older. If its still ok though one of the girls at work likes it so she'll be gifted those!

I'd recently been trialling an anti-aging face serum applied at night and had to stop using it after a few days as my face reacted badly to it. My skin has never reacted to any cream before and I certainly wouldn't call it sensitive either. The company have suggested I may have had a reaction to the retinol in the product. Never used any retinol based products before...has anyone else experienced issues with retinol before?

eek just started to read back and this sounds just like me. I was also trying an anti-aging cream at night. I wasn't sure if it was the cream but OMG I felt like it was burning my skin off. I had to go and wash my face to try and make it cool down.. So I stopped using it, and then retried it again while I was away. I am 99.9% certain it's this cream to blame. I haven't used it for 2 days but my skin feels very tender and is red, flakey and sore. This has just convinced me it's to blame so will be binning it later tonight. I also think I will contact the company about it.:(

Glad you had a lovely day maddiemay. We too have probably had the best Christmas Day in a long time in that it didn't feel clouded by the bereavements we've suffered together. Went out for dinner and I had duck which was gorgeous. Was lovely to have a nice meal and not feel overstuffed and uncomfortable afterwards.

I bow down to your resolve. The longest I've gone cold turkey is a month and that was some achievement for me I think.

    That's lovely VALM :A

When I said 'buy nothing' really I meant buy nothing unnecessary, I will run out of certain things before May but I am determined to only buy things I run out of, not sure how well I'll do but at least if I try I will buy less! ;)

I may be in the minority then about the Elemis Evening Blooms. I really like the smell. Saying that though I don't think I would buy it singularly once all mine are gone.

I also have the Lush lip scrub and am not sure it does anything at all. Keep trying to remember to use it. Maybe I should put this on my next PP list.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a bottle of Philosophy Peppermint Stick. I had the Candy Cane one last year which I loved.

You don't want to swap me something for my two remaining bottles do you VALM?

I'm not sure the lip scrub did anything either tbh, I certainly wouldn't buy again even if I wasn't boycotting Lush! I liked the idea of the Candy Cane but I found the mint too powerful, like having toothpaste under my eyes :(

Sorry to hear of people's problems with skin cream, I don't think I've tried anything with retinol in either.....

    From MrM:-
4 x Elemis TSV (6 Piece Face and Body Indulgence Collection)

The only other thing I ordered on the sale was from the Calendar Club as I need a calender for work and for the kitchen at home. So have ordered Olly Murs for work (a bit of eye candy to get me through the days!) and a Planner type for the kitchen.

Ooo nice re the Elemis set! I ordered about 6 last year I think, still working my way through! :D

I was given a Gary Barlow *sigh* calendar for xmas and bought a Thelwell one from Amazon (anyone remember them?) as I couldn't get hold of a Simon's Cat one, I normally have one in the kitchen and one in the office upstairs, not sure which is going where yet!

    Debenhams...

What I'm absolutely most pleased with... you might remind me alerting you to the Debs deal on the Lancome beauty box (buy two items, get a free giftset plus the box) etc etc and I held out...

Just got it for £33.50!!!! So pleased.

Fantastic! I didn't hold out and I'm happy with buying one product on Boots and getting the set for £50, I paid in points so no 'real' money. I was in Debenhams on boxing day and there was no sign of the red box sets, so I wouldn't have got one at all if I'd waited, none in Boots either.

Very happy you got it, have you started using it all? :D

Oh I agree, I never understood the fanfare over righteous butter! I loved the smell but it did take forever to rub in, really like a butter rather than a body butter IYKWIM! I prefer sanctuary now ;)
