You can't tutor a person who's bad at maths to be able to do what I do, but yes, most people who have severely limited maths are not there because of raw inability, but because of poor teaching.

Well with a 35 hour job search Id expect a few more.

I suppose it depends what extent you are talking about. You can't teach someone with an IQ of 80 to become particularly adept at vector calculus, but yes, you can improve on the basics.

This is why when I did a highly numerical degree they demanded a high level of mathematical ability; it simply was not something that "just anyone" could master.

Compare it to something like car racing. I've had a lot of coaching, and can find my way round a track well, but there will always be someone talented who trounces me. It's the same with numeracy, you can improve ability to do maths, but that's not, in the sense I was using the word.

Which is why in my first post I recommended that he takes steps to improve his ability with basic maths...

I realise the issue is you used the term basic numeracy for something far removed from its usual meaning.

My advisor at Jobcentre didn't mention I had to do a 35 hour Job search, he just told to apply for many Jobs as I can as if I don't apply for enough jobs be time my next appointment which is on Tuesday then I could get sanctioned.

So it seems I have applied for many Jobs and I even had a interview also there is Monday yet to apply for Jobs before Tuesday
