Your not on minimum wage so you dont have to spend 35 hours looking.
    What does that mean?

    You are = you're

The Jobcentre can also refer you to literacy courses.

Seems to be implying that they only have to do JSA/NMW = hours of job searching. There are some very deluded people in this country who take what is generously given to them for granted.

Yes but I don't have to do a 35 hour Jobsearch as that is my choice, don't get me wrong as I am trying hard to get a Job but I only can apply for jobs if there is any.

    I didn't knew Jobs are posted Saturday's and Sunday's?

That literacy class is calling you again!

If someone's having difficulty finding work, it seems to me to be helpful for others to point out that poor literacy levels may be one of the causes.

Have you heard anything back yet? If not why not phone or email the company, it at least shows your interested. Sometimes you have to pester companies to get a job. How long have you been unemployed for?

I was unemployed for just over a year and on Jobseekers its very soul crushing and I had a mandatory 20 job search every 2 weeks. Doesn't sound alot but there is only so many jobs out there. In the end your just applying for jobs you have no interest and skill in. Get a great CV and Cover Letter (Templates are easy to come by via job centre or online) and just change them for each sector/job your applying for making sure to match the keywords the company are looking for with your skills. Its very quick and easy.

For instance if they say they want someone who is trustworthy, reliable and has good communication skills. Make sure these are written on your cv and in your cover letter. Alot of jobs are now scanned via computer and they just pick out key words and its based on a point system. Sounds stupid but with around 100+ people applying for one job its only way it can be done quickly.

Not to have a go at you but if you feel you struggle with maths then why not attend a free course in your local community. I know learndirect do courses in English and Maths to help you find employment. I'd say try and find out as much as you can yourself. The jobcentre in my experience are useless. I've found most things in life you have to do yourself if you want them doing. Just google free Maths courses in ---- (your area).
My boyfriend is about to start one as as he wants to do an access course in Teaching. However due to his age his GCSE'S are now out of date (think its they are only valid for 5 years for educational courses anyway). Even if you have in date GCSE'S its always good to brush up on your skills. Plus it looks great on your CV/ Job Application forms and Interviews to say yes i've been unemployed for x amount of time but i've been studying basic English and Maths to improve my skills and help me find employment. Much better than i've done nothing and just sat on my bum all day.

I finally got a job working at my local McDonald's (ok its not great pay and at 23 I feel a bit silly) but its better pay than Jobseekers, am working for my money and gaining valuable skills and i've now just got a better job working nights at Asda. Its so true that its so much easier to get a job when your already in one. So don't give up you will find a job. If places say no to you just apply again. I must of applied to McDonald's around 30 times and got 29 no's and 1 yes. Same with Asda kept getting rejected and then finally got a yes. Even if you just an interview and not the job at least you got past the first stage. Plus its all good experience.

I would suggest volunteering as well in whatever sector you want to work. I wanted to brush up on my customer service skills and so volunteered for over 9 months at my local charity shop once a week whilst attending college. I feel this is what in the end got me a job. I could say to the interviewer i've been volunteering for nearly a year whilst studying. Its looks fanastic and you also learn valuable skills and have a laugh.

Hope all goes well for you and sometimes people can sound a little judgmental and tough but what they are saying is true. Your going to get someone in an interview wonder why or even ask you why you haven't been doing anything at all to help you improve your skills and chance of employment. I will tell you now there is nothing better than having confidence in yourself during an interview. Both my last two interviews i've sailed through because i've had confidence that I could do the job easily. However a job i really wanted (working for a makeup counter) I really strugged and had no confidence so guess what I failed. Am not going to let it stand in my way. Am going to build up my skills and confidence and go back again and pass the interview this time haha.

Well if I can't tell the time then I would miss my Jobcentre appointments and I would have been sanctioned a long time ago.

You see what I did there? (I was been sarcastic)

I saw it. I'm just confused why you would respond like that to someone giving you advice.
