I'm a newbie to this challenge and was away for a long weekend visiting my son at uni when it started. But I didn't forget! I put all my spare change (and a handful from him) into a wee carrier bag and brought it home with me to add to my coffee jar :) I've decided not to count as I add to the jar to keep the excitement of finding out the final total. Apart from that I've a mind like a sieve so would forget every week and may think I should have more than I end up with!!

My aim is to put something in the jar every day. Love reading everyone's comments and tips, so inspiring.

    Keep potting :)

Ooh I really love the idea of potting something every day - I may pinch that idea!

Don't mention SPC to your DH too much, Lynne, he's obviously on to you and minding his cash too carefully.

SUE-UU - He doesn't have a Scooby-do what I do with the pennies. Pot is hidden in the tinned food cupboard and he never goes in there - he heads for biscuit tin, bread bin and fridge if he wants a snack - the nearest he gets to cooking is the toaster or if pushed the micro :rotfl:

    Pound potted !

Any one got the decs up yet :christmastree: ??

    Have a good Thursday everyone

I hope you had a lovely time with your DS, Jellybaby. BTW, potting a littlte something each day is a really good idea, quite a few members do that so glad you've joined them.......

    .......you too, EchoDelta! :)
£5.28 has been added to my Piggy bank 50p have been added to my Emergency Savings

I really need to stop spending - I have £65 left after just being paid £149.50 friday :(

All the best with your sales, Saver88.

I love Christmas but it sure does cost a lot.

Well you've saved well today, LeopardPrintsAndTea, but that's some huge spends you've had too! Christmas is very expensive, but you still have to get by the rest of the time. Tell those you need to give to that, due to the way things are this year, you have to cut things down. They may well appreciate spending less also. If it's too late to do so this year - then do be prepared for next.

We are on holiday in America for Christmas :xmastree: and New Year _party_...can't wait!! We're staying in Texas with friends and then have half a day in New York on the way home!!

Not sure how I'm going to pay for this yet, fortunately it's only food and spending money...which will mainly be Christmas money from family instead of gifts. :happyhear

Feeling a bit down because I'm not feeling very well at the moment and we've got ourselves in to a bit of a money pickle what with unexpected house expenses, DH's tax to pay in Jan (have been saving up for it in an ISA but just checked and we are short by quite a bit) and other things but hey ho I'm sure it will work itself out. _pale_ :o Will get on top of it in the new year :money: and in the meantime try not do anything too stupid!! Thank goodness I had my pot to pay for Christmas presents! ;) All because of you and Sparky!! :smileyhea

I wondered where you'd got to, beccah, but it's good to see you back. Well done with the savings!! :D

Of course you are, mossy! How could I have forgotten that. :o Try not to worry too much about the expenses over the Christmas/New Year period, after all it won't achieve anything!! Enjoy yourselves fully - then come back and do the best your can, no one can ask for more than that. Meanwhile, get a good night's sleep whenever possible and enjoy the family. :grinheart

That's not bad for a day, Modesty, more than I got by 50p!

    Good for you, hummingbird.

2p is also better than me, slowlyfading, by 2p! :(

...it is now, 32b3, though without the 'e'. ;)

No, Thrifty Fashionista, that's the only one you'll get. Thanks a lot for putting it on. :D

That's the way, Nikki, gain wherever is possible. Why not?! :j

You crafty little minx, Lynne! :j Just the job, though in which case...grab his trousers when he's showering. Not that I would ever do such a thing. :rotfl: I started that in 2008, twas brilliant and he never even suspected!!! He now gives it up voluntarily bless him. :kisses3:

No Christmas decs up yet, but our lass has, but then they have 5 little ones. I'm pretty sure that 'mummytummy' put hers up at the weekend. ...forced to by the kiddies she would say, but........!
Have a good night, everyone, and a lovely Thursday, but keep warm!

    Hi all
Handful of change in the pot, 50p of which my DD dropped in my bag as she said i overpaid her by that much for stuff she bought me at the shop.

Anyone got any tips how to keep my cat out of the Christmas tree? Tried to hang orange peel in the branches, to no avail!
