Really excited for this challenge this year, although am having a slight dilemma- I have to pay for parking in a few places every week, so I'm not sure how much change to pot and how much to keep out for parking.

does anyone else have this dilemma?

My hours at work have been reduced, so rather than paying £53 per month for a bus pass, I plan to work at home for two days and in the office for two days, which is £7 per week in bus fares instead. I'm putting £1 and 50p pieces for this in a pot and at the end of the month will pot anything I haven't used. When I get paid again I'll withdraw £30 from the bank in £1 and 50p pieces and do the same again :D

Yet another wet and windy day, ugh! So will be staying indoors. Plans for today apart from menu planning is to scout around the house looking for loose change!

  • Happy New Year everyone. I told my 6 year old son about the challenge today so we spent the morning making sealed pots from peanut, twiglet and pringle tubs. We covered each in shiny paper and my son decorated his with stickers. We had great fun. One is his, one is for coppers and one for change. I also decided to look in side pockets of holiday suitcase and found handful of coins. Bringing me to a grand total of £ 32.40. My son has at least £10, but I wont be tracking him.

Wow, that makes my 50p look measly indeed! And I had to make a choice, in the 50p saving pot or my my sealed pot. Sealed pot won.

          1. Hi moomin and Meowhouse, thanks for the tips!

I'm liking the idea of an interim pot! I'll put everything into a small pot/purse and if I haven't used it by the end of the month then I'll transfer it into the sealed pot

right, I am getting organised today!

Just discovered this thread and would love to join please. I see I've missed a month or so, so I'm going to collect up all loose change around the house once I've found a suitable pot! By the end of 2014 ill have an extra mouth to feed and to buy Christmas pressies for so anything will help! But I'd like to set a target of 200.00 please. :)

Thanks and happy new year xx
          4. Happy new year everyone!!! :D

We brought out £100 last night but only ended up spending £55. I think hubby would kill me if I potted the whole £45 change :( so I'm going to pot £10 of it :D
A NSD for me today, its cold wet & windy here so we are going to my parents for dinner :D I might even find the odd pence outside :D

          5. Hi can I join in again this year?

Apologies but I didn't declare my total last year but it was around £167. I don't normally open my pot until the second week of December so I can get more in there as the funds is for Christmas. This year I am determined to pot more so that I can open it at the end of November. My target this year is £200 and I have already potted £11.24.

            Happy New Year!
