Debt Destruction December!!!

  • Ooh I feel a little overwhelmed just thinking about this challenge. Only in that a lot may be changing in next couple of months.
Landlady has sold the place we rent (survey being done today), so we need to move sometime this month or January latest, plus work have overpaid me and want it back! And I've never actually tracked my food shopping spends. I have been tracking since 14 Nov and I've so far spent £265.03. I get paid on the 20th rather than the end of the month too.
But I will endevaour to stick to the following.

    1. You will aim for 15 SFD's only. Never tried but today will be my first!
    2. Food budgets will be set in stone. £350 for us.
    3. We’ve set up our spend money column on the spreadsheet – and have allocated £150 for the events that are already planned and organised. No more.
    4. I have my food and spend envelopes..
    5. Drop one Christmas outing/partyI've turned down a Xmas do on 12th. And organised a free babysitter for my main one Friday!
    6. £5 of your food budget will be spent on the local food bank. Will see if I can donate online, if not I will pop down. Already dropped lots down Friday, but realise this was last day of November!
    7. Batch cook now - not sure that I do this as cook to order each day, although I do use up leftovers for lunch the next day?
    8. Get a notebook. I'm also a spreadsheet girl for recording spends. 5 Things to achieve - 1) do regular exercise 2) become debt free-Aug 2014 3)Save £1000 emergency fund 4) Start saving! 5) Never get into debt again (mortgage excluded)
    9. Choose a debt free date. Please let it be Aug 2014!
    10. Spending will be kept to a minimum Working on this!
    11. Lunch will be brought from home everyday. Hmm I will try as much as possible! It is extremely cheap here though as its subsidised (40p homemade soup). I know this can be made cheap too!
    12. NO ENTRY to any sales in the month of DDD. Next VIP is soon?!!!!! I have actually asked a few people if I can get some bits from the online sales for my Xmas presents this year as I like Next for work clothes/shoes. My little one or chap don't need anything so that helps loads. I usually pick up a few bits from the Boots 75% off for birthday presents etc. I have alittle budget for this.
Feel like I'm making excuses already :o

I think the big ones for me to work on are lunch to work and becoming debt free :T

If anyone has a spare £5 this month, this would be a lovely thing to do:

I've just done it but am keeping my SFD because it's a charitable donation.

Ha ha, are you getting soft in your debt free status Kat?

Okay, so I need to be out the door at 1200 and I've not even showered yet, but somehow I'm still reading this thread! I have nothing to report really, no spends, no excitement, no money making ventures.....

I met with a friend last night and she insisted on visiting a coffee shop and buying me a coffee - my reaction was so funny. Even although she was paying, I still found it hard to spend £2 on a cup of tea!

Yip, I'm still on the laptop hunt since my quest to buy a MacBook has so far proved elusive! Really, I've had the means but somehow can't seem to get past the purchase stage. Maybe you could PM me the link for the cheaper model Kat and I could start looking at alternatives? Oh, and I have a Revlon mascara that I got in a goodie bag at a party a few months agowhich you can have if you like. Just PM your details and I'll pop it in the post - I'm not a mascara wearer so it's charity shop bound if you don't want it.

Right, 1142 - I'm off to hit the shower then out to work. Have a nice day everyone :)

Get my debts down to 5K - highly unlikely but will review month by month and set monthly targets this time.
Find a drop dead gorgeous boyfriend, who is good at diy, not a cheat and one who doesn't snore and takes me on expensive holidays.
See if I can find a job that pays me a living wage.
Try and do some volunteer work.

OK so today is all set to be NSD number 2 as the only thing I've stepped into a shop for today is my free coffee from Waitrose (I love this, we only have a small store with no caf! but they've recently installed a coffee machine- not sure how long it will last though, the lady this morning looked a bit fed up when I didn't actually buy anything!)

So that's me, off to work later after the ironing!!

Anyone else get really excited at the start of a new challenge but once the monies are transferred, spreadsheets done, wallet left at home, big groceries shop done - there is this void. Nothing else to do (well challenge related, there is still life) apart from to wait for time to pass to the next challenge or spend day when I can put numbers in my spreadsheet again. Or is it just silly me......

Nope I'm exactly the same. I think it's why I always fail.

Maybe you could print out a 15 part pie chart and colour each one in every time you get a SFD?
