I've managed day 1 today. However, hubby decided to cook bacon for his sandwich tomorrow and although I should embrace it in a mse type of way it doesn't help the fact that the whole house stinks!

Morning. I have a really oaty day today :-S

I went to bed early and in a mood so didn't sort my food for today. Coupled with getting up late as my alarm was somehow not set for this morning, didn't bode well..

I grabbed my bircher breakfast from the fridge and went to grab a portion of butternut soup that I grabbed out of the freezer on Sunday, to find it waa pea and ham (whoops and urgh). Desperate not to buy my lunch in, I grabbed the remainder of the bircher stuff from the fridge and a banana for lunch. Not very exciting eh...?

Will see how I go in work - I was ill yesterday in work (actually, I passed out at one point for a few seconds). I woke up today with a funny headache and have atartes to feel light headed on the train again now :( I'll munch a Go Ahead that I grabbed from my desk last night before I left but am hoping eating will help (? I don't feel hungry, haven't been skipping meals... I don't think this is food related?)

Oh Shortie - be careful. Make sure you stay hydrated aswell as eating properly and I think I'd recommend a trip to the doctors to get checked out. Take care x

Please take care of yourself, Shortie. There are so many bugs going around. Hope you are better soon.

hi Soworried, it's incredibly easy - basically you soften some onion and garlic in a frying pan and then throw in one or two cut up good-quality cooking chorizo sausages (some recipes advise you to cook the chorizo in oil first and then the onion and garlic, as the chorizo releases the paprika along with its oils and that flavours the onion and garlic, but they take on the flavours anyway really). Then you throw in some cut-up potatoes - I had four potatoes left so chucked them all in - and fry those for a minute or so. Then you put in chicken stock (I used about 500ml, maybe a bit more? .... enough to cover the potatoes and chorizo). Then you simmer it for about 20 minutes, till the potatoes are softened, then throw in the cabbage, sliced reasonably finely, and cook that for another 15 minutes or so. That's it - you don't blend or anything - it's a rustic, chunky soup. I used a recipe that suggested mixing up a paste of smoked paprika and olive oil and swirling that in at the end, which I did.

    Here are two "official" recipes:
    http://www.theskintfoodie.com/caldo-verde.html
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/caldoverdeportuguese_73565

It's yum, but you do need good chorizo. :)
    Thankyou, it sounds lovely :T

I'm just having soup tomorrow and I'm not even sure what type:o I froze lentil soup and spicy chicken soup and I can't work out which jars are which
