If you have installed av that detects it, then there is probably a log somewhere with the name, and path.

if it is in your temp internet files, you could try ccleaner, but if it is clever enough to stop avg, it will probably stop you deleting them until you kill the process, autoruns may give you a clue, if you are able to run it

yeah ive tried ccleaner to clear all temp files, and that hasnt solved anything. ive never come across a virus before that kills the antivirus checker before it even starts up lol.

Whats even wierd is the fact it wont let download or go anywhere near webpages for Hijack This as well

Norton online scanner, bitdefender and Kaspersky i tried those 3 but gave up after that cos it was 1am in the end and i was knackered. I tried 3 of them cos i thought that one of them may be able to remove it, without having to pay :)

P.s. all three of them picked up the viruses :)

Bitdefender 8 should clean up, if it didn't try a scan in safe mode, it should save the report in c:\program files\softwin\bitdefender8\vscan.log

if you have another pc with xp sp2 on, you could create a bartpe boot cd, and use some of the scanner plugins (or installed av) for that, that will give you a clean environment to scan from
