Bucket list

Like Faith, my husband and I have a mental list of things we want to do and try to do a couple each year. We are both a bit "life's too short" due to parents dying young or becoming ill.
Most of my "to dos" are travel related and we have managed to tick off a fair few. Last year we quit our jobs and spent our house deposit on six months of travelling! We have a few big ones left before we start a family. The literal "big one" is to see Mount Everest (from base camp is enough!)
My ongoing one is to learn a foreign language well enough to read a book!0 -
I don't get this 'bucket list' thing - why wait until you have your death notice to do things?0

Because, in true mse style, you have kept a little bit of money aside but, facing death, you realise that THIS is the rainy day you saved up for and you spend it on those things that please your heart and soothe your soul.0 -

Exactly! It's stuff to do before you die (i.e. during your life), not while you are actually on your last legs! I think that cheesy film that was out a while back has made everyone think it's something you do in your last year.0 -
Nope.
When you are very ill and get the bad news the chances are you are not in a situation to do it. People fail to realise how restrictive being ill can be, what with appointments, and frankly, ability.0 -
The only thing I would want to do is travel as much of the world as possible. I haven't done that so far as I could never afford to so if I was terminally ill I still wouldn't be able to afford toThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

Never regret the things you have done, only those things you wish you had done!
But TBH, my sister passed away in July aged 49.
She just wanted us all around her in her last weeks. It's called the love.
All the journeys in the world will not compensate for that. IMV.
But I can only comment on my personal experience with my darling sis. We did all the travelling to her beloved Aude region in France. And that was done when she was well.
Who knows? Who can say?
Myself.. I just want a bucket of love, and a hospice like sis had, if you can say anything is good, that was, both for her, and for us.
Sorry, I have gone off on one now.0 -
Hmmmm that line-up of things you want to do before you kick the bucket. I believe in living for the moment and making the most of every opportunity that comes by. Working to live and not the other way round. It is too late to enjoy amazing experiences properly, if you only allow time for them when your life shows signs of coming to a premature end.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0
