Dusty do you remember challenging me to get the back of my waistcoat knitted by the end of November? Well, I finished the back and cast on the right front last night.:T It's slow going, as my wrists are horrible (big swollen lump on both) and knitting with splints on isn't easy; but we are gradually getting there.;)
:T Very Proud of you - well done
After a spectacular failure yesterday due to a horrible headache

Bed made, batch of laundry in, a couple of small bags of rubbish generated and taken to the chute. Basin cleaned but attempts to clean shower head frustrated as dratted thing won't undo. So I didn't vacuum but got milk as need :coffee:‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

DD is helping me fly. She's done the kitchen (except floor and stuff I need to do), cleaned most of the bathroom (well she's the one who covered it in talc). I've done most of the admin for work, just some shredding needs to be done now..
School have named the teacher who has died. Twitter is filled with people spreading rumours connecting stories in local press. Local press isn't helping by now announcing the school is closed due to a bereavement. I just feel so sorry for the staff, pupils and family of the poor man. If it is him then the last thing people need is it splashed all over the front page.
DD is now watching TV for a bit. Right, time to find my laminator.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Nicki, sorry to hear about the teacher
Local press, twitter, gossip...they never help these situations do they? The rumour mill can be a dangerous or upsetting machine, especially now its online so can gain momentum more quickly..
My HHC didn't get me very far..I started WM and folded floor laundry but putting it away was more difficult than anticipated because we simply don't have enough drawer space! Either that or too many clothes..
Also paired up lots of socks but found some without "brothers" as usual. Into the odd sock bag they go.
I took a "before" pic of the spare room and its shameful. I want to get it into a semi-acceptable "after" state before the end of today.
How do people go about storing their jumpers? They are just so bulky and fill up a drawer in seconds! Especially as OH's drawers are half depth ones. At the moment I'm adopting the fold shoulder-to-shoulder and roll method.
Another HHC later at 2pm for me.GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

I had to ring the loan and the mortgage company today and the bank loan will be paid off in 12 weeks time!!! I owe them £600 less than I thought I did so I am beside myself with glee.
Mortgage balance isn't too dreadful either.. still a substantial sum but less than it was.
Sorting accounts and stuff to pay through December and catching up on stuff since my bank account was locked down..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Brilliant news - well done pigpen! In 12 weeks' time you will feel very rich indeed :j
Great progress being made here - last night we slept upstairs in our own bed :j (but don't jump on the beds, children!)
This morning the fencing contractor came and put up our back fence in 3 hours. It looks so good that I just had to leave the painting and mow the lawn :rotfl: Extremely pleased with myself for managing it before we get rain - it hasn't rained here for several days, but the leaves were all blowing up and it suddenly went cold and dark grey.
Meanwhile DH has built 2 B1lly bookcases from the Swedish store. Unfortunately one of them doesn't have a back, so we can't fix them permanently, but they fit side by side in the alcove with just a centimetre to spare on each side
:rudolf: If opening furniture packaging counts towards my challenge total, I am now up to 11/20 boxes done. Have also set up my computer upstairs so I can look out at the fields and horses as I sit here.
Oops, daydreaming again- must get on with that undercoat or it won't be ready for gloss tomorrow.

Hello! I havent done much the last 2 days to be honest, its been frantic! Daughter had her ballet exam yesterday, so by the time I'd taken her to school, came home, got her ballet kit ready, sewed elastic on her new ballet shoes, it was time to pick her back up and take her to exam. Lots of waiting around...then a celebratory meal.
Today I was helping at my sons school till lunch, then at the docs, now I'm going to cram in 45 mins of cleaning before the school pick up.
Nicki, thats really sad about the teacher, I hope your DD is ok. My daughter and I witnessed her lollypop man get hit by a car last week, I think I was more upset about it than she was.Working my butt off to buy the house of my dreams!0 -
