Hi pg, just seen the responses on the other thread...

Not a very friendly bunch were they.. hope you get it sorted and let us know how you get on! I did think that the credit rating is on the person and associated financially linked people so wouldn't have thought it would affect your dd. You could always ask a Stepchange bod, I'm sure they would be able to find the answer for you.

I'm pretty sure we applied online and then we just had to take ID into our local branch once the application had been approved.

Now you mention it, I did apply online for two NW accounts for each of the girls. I then received some paperwork in the post to take into branch but between the jigs and the reels and other goings on it didnt do it. I will have a hunt and see if I can dig out the letters.

    Thankyou Ruby xx

Crikey - looks like some forums aren't quite as friendly and helpful as this one then

Sorry I can't offer any advice or knowledge on this one but I completely understand your worries about it - hopefully someone will answer your question on there with a slightly more constructive answer :o

Ha Ha, I think we are spoilt by friendliness over here !! :D xx

I did have a wee stalk of the "not so friendly bod" and he appears to have posted a few slightly controversial things of late. Such a shame. :(

Its interesting you mention the credit rating , as the whole reason behind this worrying me is that once a upon a life, and I am going back a very very long time ago, my ex was declined credit on a number of occasions. We had our own home, no money difficulties and good jobs. It came to light though that his dad had a mountain of debt and it appeared that the two names were linked and obviously once upon a time they lived at the same address and this seemed to affect my exes credit rating. There appeared to be no other reason for it. This was over twenty years ago yet for some reason I have remembered it and that's what has got me worried about the girls future.

We aren't with Stepchange although I am sure if I posted somewhere else on the board an adviser may pop up. I think that we will pop into a branch and see how we get on. I have nominated Mr PG to do the honours and take them to the bank when he has a day off !!! He could handle any potential embarrassment far better than I could !! :o xx

  • In the absence of any Advent Calenders ( which the girls reminded me of of Sunday , much to my embarrassment !) we have started the Elf On The Shelf Tradition this year . The girls are probably far too old, although you would never know it.

I managed to get hold of the book and the Elf earlier in the year as I thought it looked a really fun Christmassy tradition , and hopefully something the girls can carry on should they have their own children in the future. I only found the Elf today after rumaging in the loft so the girls are starting their advent a few days late, but hey ho !!

The Elf looks over the children during the day, checks on their behaviour and reports back to Santa while they sleep. When he returns he tends to get a little mischevious and up to no good in the middle of the night. The girls, when they wake tomorrow must hunt the house for the Elf and should they find him, will notice that he is safeguarding their Advent Choccies ! It going to be tough going keeping this up until Xmas and thinking of crazy things for the Elf to get up to but we have a few things up our sleeves. For now though , I have just caught him nestled down in a bowl of Tangerines, weightlifting a couple of mini chocolate oranges held together with a wooden kebab skewer, and a very cheeky grin on his face !!

I think we could have some fun with this !! xx :rotfl::rotfl::xmassmile

    Hi PG

Just coming to this late as have been off the boards for a day or so..but DD1 has a Hal£fax account with a card ( no OD naturally..some people are so rude as well as dense) and when we signed the forms I can't remember any scrutiny of me. If anything it was more about how much money might be going through each month. I set up a DD for £20 pm. It did all have to be done in person at the bank due to money laundering procedures. All straightforward though so fingers crossed.

It is useful and means they needn't carry lots of money about, altho to be fair she usually just uses the ATM.

Elf on a Shelf sounds lovely..

Thanks Mrs B, perhaps I am panicking for nothing !

Mr PG was going to take the girls on Saturday to try and open an account, but he needs to go abroad for a few days now, so he wont be around. Maybe I will take them instead if I am feeling brave enough. :o

Elf On A Shelf went down a treat. I have found him this morning supping Port from a Straw in the dining room, looking rather sozzled whilst attempting to hide a couple of snowball choccies. The girls havent found him yet ! :D xx

Now I just need to coax DD1 out of bed bright and early on a Saturday morning before the bank close at 12 !! That should be a challenge in itself ! :D

  • I have only bought one Christmas present so far. I am starting to panic now. I have a list of bits I think the girls would like and a list of bits to buy for family.

I cant get into the Christmas Spirit this year which isn't like me, I just love Christmas usually. Its been a crap year, maybe that's why. I am trying though, and have told the girls we will attempt to get the tree and decorations sorted at the weekend.

I haven't even ordered the Xmas Doormat which is one of the first things I always buy each year for some strange reason.:o:rotfl:

We made just under £200 on £b@y at the weekend . Pay isn't very forthcoming at the moment, everyone is holding onto their money. That does not help me get organized for Christmas. As much as I was hoping to stash the £b@y money away for a Rainy Day I think I will have to take it shopping with me and start getting myself organised before Christmas Eve appears before my very eyes and there is nothing under the tree at all !

I just need a little motivation. If anyone has any going begging, please deliver it my way !! :D xxxx
