Pre-packing is WAYYYY overrated. Trust me. Figure out what she's wearing on the plane, then what's she's taking in handluggage (passport, reading material, phone, etc.), rest goes in the suitcase. Sorted. I usually only pack on the morning of a flight, 'cos until I know what I'm wearing, nothing else is sorted.
Such a fantastic visual to that description. Thank you!
What a topic to appear in her exam. Drat! Did she manage to scribble down something along the lines that "this is too close to home for me at the moment"? I can just imagine her feelings as she's reading through the questions . . . poor lass.
Give 'em heck and hopefully it will produce results (and the money).
Sadly DD2 is travelling by coach. I don't envy her one tiny bit as she gets travel sick, so I have stocked up on travel armbands and travel sickness tablets . I am hoping she will manage to sleep through a fair amount of the journey. I get a little stressed if I leave things until the last minute, so we got the case packed last night eventually, although she was more interested in choosing the outfits she will wear for the evening events, ie the disco and karaoke evening !! We are supposed to be organising everything else this morning but have settled for a cuddle on the sofa instead
DD1 hasnt really told me what she eventually wrote int he exam, other than not alot. Unusually for her she appears to have decided it is a no go topic of discussion, so I am going with the flow.
As for the missing money I will pop that in a post in a second....LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

I hope DD2 has a great time and you and DD1 have lots of fun quality time together keeping each other occupied so you don't miss the absentees too much
What a shame about poor DD1s exam, you have to wonder what idiot thought it would be an appropriate poem for an age group that may only too sadly have experience of this
I hope the phone call worked x
I know DD2 will have a fab time, but I think (although shes not saying anything) that shes a little apprehensive being quite so far away for the first time. She sat lat night printing out photos of us all to take with her.
As far as the exam goes, I totally agree with you Granny. IT sees such a strange topic to choose.
Hope you are keeping well, I havent had time to catch up with you recently Im sorry xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Well, they finally decided to investigate it further, and funnily enough they advised that here had been a system error and we would now see the money next Tuesday. What that system error was exactly they obviously didn't divulge but clearly it involved someone forgetting to do something that they should of.
I raided the emergency pot for DD2s Spending Money for her hols and there is just enough in there for her Euros and for DD1 and I to get through the weekend.
There was another amount of money which I should have received a remittance for yesterday, of which taking into Account the Bank holiday would show Wednesday. This money added to what we should have received last week will just about be enough to pay the mortgage which is due by the 30th.
They confirmed in an email yesterday that not only would last weeks money show Tuesday that the next invoice would be paid yesterday and show on Wednesday. The plot thickens though, as there is something strange going on. I ALWAYS receive a remittance from them on a Friday afternoon about 3pm. I woke in the middle of the night and realised that the Remittance for the next invoice didn't actually arrive yesterday, clearly meaning that they haven't paid the next invoice after all. I am not sure what is going on there. I checked the bank accounts and last weeks money is now showing (despite them saying Tuesday ) but there is no sign of the other remittance which is for the larger sum of money.
This will really screw us up, we have been paying late or had arrears on the mortgage since last September time and they have been very very understanding, but we had to pay a few days late last month and I don't think they will stand for it this month as well. I am unsure what to do now. Maybe sit tight incase this time they have remembered to pay, but forgotten to send the remittance which would be strange or panic !! Hmmmmm what to do on this rainy Saturday morning ......................... ?! xxxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

DD2 left this afternoon. We were very organised, ready for the off two hours early and had time for yet another cuddle on the sofa !
But I have to confess that I did commit the cardinal sin of crying while I waited for the coach to leave. Shes not very well , has come down with a humdinger of a cold and I hate the thought of her being poorly and me not being there. I know I sound completely neurotic ! Im not usually this bad I promise.
I have been waking in the night panicking that she will be in a room with four other girls and someone might get in and take her, I also panicked incase she is on the first floor or above with a balcony. I have this thing about her and heights, not like it with DD1 at all, doesn't concern me in the slightest. DD2 was always adventurous, climbed everything, saw no danger in anything, she has never changed. She has a "can do " attitude. Nothing fazes her and in her eyes she can and will do any task put before her. An Admirable quality, but not when your her mother and she frightens the living daylights out of me ! I had a dream many many years ago which was to do with her and heights and balconies. I have never forgotten it and had it a few times since. I have never told anyone , not even Mr PG what exactly the dream was about, but I have never ever let her near a balcony or anywhere high ever. Now all of a sudden she is all grown up( well 13 !) and going abroad without me and I cant stop her.:eek:
Apologies for sounding like a complete nutcase, but its the way it is !
So...... she sat on the coach, I freaked out as she was sitting on her own. Again, this is completely alien to me, I don't usually freak out about these things ! sent DD1 onto the coach just to check that the other girls weren't being horrible ( not sure why as she has never ever had trouble with friends before, but I wanted to check ) She laughed and said that she had chosen to sit on her own, her friends were behind and across the aisle. She has a cold, she didnt want to cough and sniff on the girls, she has long legs, she has more room this way, she should get some sleep (she likes her sleep these days!) and she has been able to set her pillow and her blanket up all cosy. Ever the sensible child then ? She was quite happy and told DD1 to tell me to stop worrying. I then got my knickers in a twist, hid behind my sunglasses and mopped my tears. DD1 rubbed my back like she was winding a baby, that was her way of comforting me !! I didn't think dD2 had seen until she sent her sister a text saying " Look after mum while I'm gone "
We waved goodbye, drove home, literally shut the front door and DD1 collapsed in sobs of tears. I initially thought it was all because DD2 had left, which it was , but it then culminated into the whole, Daddy has gone, now DD2 has gone, Grandad is gone and its just us She wants everyone back together again If only I could wave my magic wand and make that happen for her. She cried for a long long time, I thought she would never stop. I know exactly how she feel as I managed to speak to Mr PG this morning and got upset and said exactly the same to him, so I know here she is coming from. It all feels so odd .
DD1 had a party tonight but didn't want to go,she didn't want to leave me on my own and she decided she looked ugly with her puffy eyes. Shes looked better I must admit, bless her ! :rotfl:I decided the party would do her good and that "Cinderella must go to the ball " So I ran the shower, laid her out her outfit for the night then practically dragged her out of the door. She needed to go out and have fun with her friends , not mope around indoors upset and looking at me.
I have just eaten and am going to pour a glass of PG and curl up with a magazine I hope for a while before going back out for pick up duties later on.
SO that's my day, its been an eventful one at that.............................LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Aw lots of hugs dear Mrs PG, it's hard when your babies grow up and you lose that ability to be around to protect them from everything. What lovely girls you have, you've clearly brought them up extremely well.
I'm sure DD will have a great time and come back full of tales. As for DD1, what a lovely mum you are to push her to go, despite wanting to hold on tight and keep her close.
Lots of love and happy thoughts and wishes
