Rats to the 'chase the train'. But that's what devoted patents do for their children.

As for the graphics being lost. This suggestion will probably only apply if she's using a networked computer: the ones we have at work, it doesn't matter how many times you dutifully press the 'save' button, the work is only truly saved to the server once the document has been closed down.

I'm in the habit, especially when I'm working on something fiddly, that whenever I pause or KNOW I've got a portion exactly how I want, I shut it down and reopen it. So, if the system freezes, at least I've only lost a small portion.

The "Chase the Train" game was quite fun at the time, DD1 said she felt like she was in a Chasing scene from a Thriller Movie !!

AS for the documents, I agree with everything you have said. I save every 10 mins or so. Sadly trying to drum that into my 16 year old hasn't worked so far !!!

She has done well today, so am hoping all will be finished by Monday night to get sent off to the examining board and she will have got her grade up. Fingers crossed she will pull it out of the bag for the written exam in June and she will get the grade that she wants. It my not be quite what was predicted, but as long as it gets her to college I am of the mindset now that what will be will be xxx
She cant work any harder thats for sure.

Unfortunately, it's one of those things you tend to ignore until there's some disaster and you find out the hard way - which I'm definitely NOT wishing on Miss PG!

I've seen irate emails at work over the years from people who'd been in the office all weekend along the lines of: "I've been working on this document all weekend and I kept saving, yet when the computer crashed, why wasn't IT able to retrieve my latest draft?"

Back comes IT to reiterate previously given information about it not being saved until it was closed down. Invariably followed by worker expressing surprise that "they'd never been told this snippet of information before".

Sounds like she's in the home stretch :)

Well done to dd1 with her Art, and great that the school want to display it!

But I think that means that she will probably not see the work again...! After the marking and moderation period is over, dd1 may well be at her new school/college. We have a fixed day when pupils can collect their work, once it is available - otherwise I think it gets recycled. The school will probably want the work for the year...

Now her school may work it differently, but if I were her, I'd be a tad unwilling to leave them anything nice! Hope this makes sense!

Thats exactly what I have been thinking Apple, but I didn't want to mention it to her !

She was so pleased that they want to display it, I think she completely forgot that she wont be in school next year to collect, although DD2 will still be there.

I have decided to let her revel in the excitement that they like it enough to display it and mention it to her when its a little less stressful ! x:D

Today I have a list as long as my arm of things I need to do and also of things I want to do. The want list usually never ever happens, but it would be nice if it did for a change.

Its only small things, like give the bathroom a lick of white paint, plant some flowers I treated myself to the other day in some pots to put int he front to make it look a little jollier.

The reality is that the washing and ironing are overflowing, the homework jollying will need to be done, Coursework finished, food shopping needs doing and the visits have to be done . I also need to fit in a couple of hours work today, which will probably leave little time for anything else.

Perhaps I will pop outside now as the sun has just appeared and plant the flowers, then at least I will have got one nice thing done for the day. :D

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday xx

As per my post above, I did mange to plant the flowers yesterday. I went on strike and told everyone that for once I was doing something I wanted to do and I could be found in the garden. I'm not very green fingered as Ive mentioned before, I'm not even quite sure what I planted, but the pots look pretty ! I then prayed for rain to water them , which is very unlike me, but I couldn't find the watering can and the hose had popped off of the outside tap and wouldn't go back on.

The day went pretty well, DD1 ended up in school. not impressed at being there on a Sunday but we received an email with regards to all the problems she encountered on Friday and her teacher was opening up for her , so off she trundled for 4 hours to do yet more coursework. She has two hours to catch up this morning then will work on it for as long as is needed tonight and then its done and dusted. Phew !! What will be will be by then, she cant do anymore. They are apparently restructuring the way the course is run next year as the pupils are struggling so much, but sadly that's a bit late for DD1.

Due to her needing to go into school and me having a mountain of things I needed to do, it was the perfect reason not to do the Visits yesterday, as I explained there was no way I could fit everything in, including food shopping as well. DD2 had a mountain of homework, she didn't have time to come with me to visit and I wasnt prepared to leave her sitting at home alone while I went without her. Instead I made three chatty phone calls, one from the garden whilst planting, one from up the ladder whilst painting the bathroom ceiling and another from the car after shopping. That seemed to keep the peace and I will aim to go over early evening tonight if I can squeeze in a few hours. This will be the first time in 8 months that I haven't spent at least one or the other or both of the days over a weekend Visiting , I end up leaving the girls home alone so I don't get to see much of them and we cant do anything as a family. By not going I have got so much done and I feel like I have spent time with the girls. It has proved that this cant carry on indefinitely.

Mr PG here today hes working nights tonight but instead of having a lie in he has gone off on a bike ride. Work very quiet just now, so have stripped beds, tackled a pile of ironing, run the hoover around and then if its stays quiet which it will until at least 10.30 I will give the bathroom walls another quick coat of paint. Thats the plan anyway. When I finish work tonight, I will go and buy new floor tiles ( paid with my Nectar Points ! :D ) then go off and Visit. Both girls will be in school until at least 6 tonight, so I am hoping I can fit it all in. Leftovers for tea so no need to worry about dinner tonight.

I have done the infamous TT's this morning, and my Holiday account which had £2.00 in has grown to £14.38 in a matter of days!! The grand sum of 12p was transferred into it today ! We are camping for a few days in July when Mr PG comes home for a couple of days so I will put that towards the cost of the campsite, which is cheap anyway, but I like saving these days !! :D

Right that's me done, off to find the Paintbrush ! xx
