  • I understand what you're saying. But I'm sure you'd rather you be able to complete the jobs you do accept to your high standards. You wouldn't want to have to go back to a client and say you couldn't meet a deadline.

Glad things are looking better. All the best.

Yes you are right JustAboutThere, it just frustrating. I need to chop Mr PG into a tiny thousand pieces and then we could accept all of the work currently coming our way !! :rotfl:

If the contract which is due to start Monday can't be done by another supplier, will they come back to you with a later start date? Did you suggest that? Worth a try, perhaps.

Hi Satchmo, How are you ? Yes thankyou, we have given them our nearest start date just incase they cant find anyone as we know a couple of people they approached after us are also fully booked.

We have a meeting with this client at the end of the month anyway, so we can chat with them again, but they are on a pretty tight deadline themselves with this project so they do need someone asap. Its just one of those things really. We have also offered them ad hoc dates should they need any extra help to speed things along a little. x

  • I think I may have had my second LBM this evening with regards to the Loan and including it in the DMP .

I think I am pretty pleased with myself, although embarrassed at the same time, as its suddenly hit me that if we continue to try and pay the loan it still has 7 years to run, plus it now has arrears of £2100 and interest is still accruing at a rate of £739 every three months. :(

Had we included it in the DMP two years ago, hopefully that interest would have been frozen , and possibly have enabled us some months to save some extra to eventually put towards a full and final settlemnt. Instead we have continued to pay £470 a month towards, still got hit with interest and at times it has left us with no food in the cupboards and no fuel in the cars . All of this stress and misery just to to service the loan as I was so terrified of a charging order being put on the house.

I think it just shows what a total pickle we were well and truly in when the original LBM struck.I was in such a state hadnt slept in months, Mr PG couldn't remember the last day off he had had and we were terrified of defaulting on a loan for such a huge sum of money, due in part to some misplaced loyalty with the bank.

The Charging order does still worry me, but according to the I&E we can only realistically afford £64 a month towards this loan . If work is good and Mr PG works the current 28 days a month and we can charge a higher price for the job, assuming we get the work in the first place and get paid for it, then we can just about meet the proper payments, but thats no life for the next seven years is it ? Considering we have been working like this now for 6 years already, taking every scrap of work and all hours thrown at us, got very down and stressed, said goodbye to alot of our friends and social life due to lack of time and money something has to give. We cant work like this forever, we arent getting any younger.

This really does appear to be a no brainer. Why on earth has it taken me so long I wonder ?

I really hope I still feel like this when I wake up tomorrow and the old bank loyalty thing doesn't come flooding back !

Im off to toast my LBM2 with a glass of wine I think :D

Mrs PG, same 2nd LBM happened to me. Entering the 3rd year of our DMP with no end in sight I had a melt down (2nd LBM sounds much better!) and decided it was time to take control and start living our lives again. Month after month we were left with next to nothing to live on and I needed to change it. We pay less back each month now... it's not a lot less but it's enough to make a difference. And I've banned all talk of debt free dates on my dairy, instead I now view our debts as something we can chip away slowly and at a level we can afford.

Thankyou so much ruby. Funnily enough as you were writing the post above, I was reading your post over on Mrs Happys diary.

You are right of course, this cant go on. It was a huge enough step to deal with the CC debts initially, but including the loan as well on the DMP was enough to terrify the toughest amongst us. The starting amount of £96K was absolutely petrifying. I am very angry with myself although if I sit back and take stock for a second, all advise we were given was that if we could find a way to pay, to do so, just to safe guard the roof over our heads. But I think the gloves are off now.....let the battle begin. We need to get a figure agreed and the interest frozen then we may be able to take stock finally and give ourselves some breathing space .

I havent seen Mr PG this evening, he still is still working ( funny that !). I am interested to hear what his thoughts on the loan are.

The possibility of a CCJ freaks me out a bit as well, but I wont think about that right now, I am hoping for some sleep tonight !

Have you a diary Ruby ? I am sure I have seen one somewhere, although I am pretty rubbish these days at keeping up with everyones diaries which I am ashamed to admit . :o

Ha Ha and torture it is as you clearly are aware !

I think we have lived in a fog for years and years now. Its so sad as I look at DD2 who is 13 in just a few weeks and think we have worked liked idiots, chased our tails and been stressed out to the eyeballs for most of her little life. I am sure it hasn't affected her, we have always made so sure that the girls are fine, but it still upsets me to think this mess has been ongoing for most of her life. :(

I said a while ago things really must change and that I need to get off of this merry go round, maybe today is finally the day.

Watch this space though , I could backtrack totally in the morning ! I wouldn't put it past me :o

  • Funny how things hit you in the face sometimes. I decided to take another look at our finances again because I didn't feel our debts were being paid quickly enough.

We have a boarder which means we have a substantial amount of 'extra' money coming in every week but we weren't putting it to good use. I've finally set up an automatic payment for 70% of his rent money to go into a savings account. By April this year we should have enough saved up to pay off our last remaining CC, which will then free up more money to put towards paying off the last of our business loans at the end of the year! Why haven't I been doing this for the last year???

    Same here.

I don't right fancy their chances now you have gotten you game face on ;-)

  • Mrs PG, don't dare backtrack now. You got total clarity about your situation so make sure you use that to best effect. I can see how frightening a CCJ must appear but surely less so than a breakdown for you or Mr PG. Seeing the inroads you have made, no one could think you did anything less than your best. Just take the obvious next step. Take care.
