  • My friend has me in stitches with her elf pics on fb, yesterday's was her boy's undies all over the tree instead of baubles (do you know her! LOL) and today's was a bingo marker all over her son's faces whilst they were sleeping the pics were hilarious and elf was holding the marker with spots all over his face too :P

Good luck with the xmas shopping! We have panto tickets and i'm really not impressed that DD is going to see it this Thursday as a treat from the school! If i'd have known i'd have gone to the next big town along (near you!) to watch a different one grrr now she'll have seen it twice and as tickets aren't cheap I'm hoping she'll sit still through the second performance that she will be watching with us! xx

The pics sound hilarious !! We were really busy last night and I must admit I did forget the Elf, he was still up the tree with the Undies from the night before !!

I quickly sat him next to a barbie doll this morning with his arm round her, the TV remote and a bowl of popcorn. He looked like he was on a hot date with Barbie ! They havent seen it yet as they didnt get time to find him before school this morning ,we were running really late, so they are still sitting on the sofa together ! I was considering smearing a bit of Barbies lippie on him but thought that might be too much, but then again the girls arent tiny anymore !

The Panto at the big town near us usually is very good and not too expensive. My friends daughter performs in that each year. We try and see that or else we go to the other big town by the sea which is more expensive, but must admit much better again. I am sure DD will happily sit through it twice. Fingers crossed for you ! :D:D xx

Really loving this elf and thinking if they are too expensive after Christmas I will blinking well make my own - sorry does that sound a bit aggressive? Was going to remove the last bit but thought hey ho, I'm with friends x :)

Another hater of shopping nowadays and especially at this time of year. I'm with Piq on the despair over crowds and tinny Christmas sounds. I've done the majority of my shopping online with odd bits from a rather rigid list in the local shops. I think I've finished now - too much month left for the amount of money in my account

Me too Granny and everyone is holding up payment so I really cant get myself sorted until someone comes up trumps and sticks some money in the bank. I have used a little bit of the Car Sale money but need to hang onto it for bills and food incase the money doesn't show. Its not making it easy to get sorted, but we will if it kills us !!

I think you should have a go at making an Elf , it would be much cheaper ( and no that didn't sound aggressive by the way !!Well not to me anyway , but I am currently contending with a family member who is currently on target for the worlds record in aggressive behaviour, anything else is tame ! ) I have seen a few homemade ones online, maybe you should take a look xx

A HM one..now that's interesting..but I think I'd like the book too. One to ponder..

Hope the money you're owed comes through soon. So carp of them to hold onto it. Never ceases to infuriate me.

I have decided that for my last presents..for stockings etc will all be bought from my local stores. I am NOT going near a shopping centre :rotfl: I will use my Brizzle Pounds in my local stores. I am determined to enjoy spending a small amount rather than get stressed! :)

Trying to think of some ideas for a story to go around the elf too. The more I think about it, the keener I am to make my own anyway. Plus it will be a weekly countdown as opposed to a daily one, so slightly easier. I've got 11 months to put him into practice ;)

I did all my small gift buying from local shops and am pleased to say I haven't even been near a shopping centre this year. Spent slightly more than planned but nothing too serious.

  • Sorry lovely people......there's been so much going on, just had no time to post I'm sorry.

The Elf is still getting up to mischief, Xmas shopping still not done, let alone wrapped although by leaving it this late I have picked up some lovely bargains. Had bit of meltdown again at the shops, Mr PG had come with me as I was getting myself in a tizzy about going and spending money. Lord knows whats wrong with me, but I got in such a state I ran out of the shop in tears. More about all that rubbish another time I think.

The money came through , but very very late. The problem is that by the time I had cleared the council tax arrears, paid the VAT Man, put some more aside for the next VAT Bill, paid the mortgage including an additional £100 towards the arrears, popped some fuel in the cars etc etc and put some aside for THEM ( that should have actually been paid straight to THEM but I cant bear to part with the money at the moment ) the coffers were / are empty again. We have not paid the bank loan in four months. They are on our case as to what we are going to do about it. My head is full of sludge and I really cant think about the best course of action. I dont know what we are going to do about it if Im honest. Its such a ridiculously huge amount its terrifying. If we include it in the DMP there is a chance they could put a charge on the house, its unsecured, but they could pressure us to sell. I am terrified of getting a CCJ as with the credit rating shot to pieces, if we did lose the house we wouldn't get another mortgage and I'm guessing a CCJ would make it hard to rent as well. We need to find a solution but I have so much going on that I really haven't got my sensible, fighting head on right now so I am ignoring them. Thats most definitely not the best course of action, but its how it is right now.

THEY are bombarding us with letters again now as well, threatening to pass the Tax Bill once more to a DCA. We are paying....just in bits and bobs and clearly not as quickly as they would like. Sadly I don't have the grand sum of £12K sitting in the bank doing nothing, so there's nothing more I can do.

I need them all to just go away and leave us alone !!

Its all a little bit too much at the moment, I feel like I am going backwards instead of forwards. My head is in a spin, the stupid tears are always threatening to spill over,. Have a ridiculous amount of pressure coming at me from all angles, family included and I just want to run and hide. But I cant its Christmas and I need to make it as special as possible for the girls.

Stop the train..... I wanna get off .................................... :o:o

  • Big hugs PG, wish there was something we could do to help.

I know you want to give your girls a nice Christmas and I also know they deserve it. However, don't make yourself ill because of it nor underestimate the power of making memories rather than expensive gifts. Making Christmas Tree shaped cookies or building a gingerbread house (that you could even then give as gifts to others) will be the kinds of things your girls will remember when they are old ladies, not the presents Xx

    ^^^^^

I echo what Lucky says. I know for a fact your girls are not materialistic, they are delightful. The magic for Christmas for them is being with their Mum and Dad and that's all there is to it. Hang on in there, it will come right.
