Think I will pop by yours for bread NoOne, as usual in the PG Household there is barely any food. I really must get that sorted !

Maybe I could allocate that job to Mr PG at the weekend, I think I have an aversion to food shopping, love to eat it but hate to buy it ! Mr PG on the other hand has no problem trawling around a supermarket.

Did I notice on your diary that Mr NoOne is onboard now when I skim read, or is that wishful thinking ? xxx

Hi Mrs PG, Welcome any time!- think I'll set up a stall on the road outside - "Cheap dough" then you know you can find me.
I do pretty much all the shopping :( he picks up cheap bread on way home from work as the time is about right for marking down time!
Re: on Board - Not sure on that - jury is still out deciding. Maybe a teeny bit but a lot of wishful thinking...I think?
Its calmer at home because I refuse to be drawn into anything, so I tend to take a deep breath and bite my tongue - but there have been less "moments". The reason for new found calmness is because I can talk to lovely people on here, and I know that Mum (i.e. I!) know what's best for my familyicon10.gif so I am doing it. So although we are not talking about it, I am taking what action I can, and we are not arguing. So I am not sure if that counts as him being on board?
    xx
Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I will wear a badge saying "Old Mother Hubbard" and you will know its me !! When I am feeling super good I have been known to make my own bread int he breadmaker but these days I am jsut not organised enough for that. Think I may enlist DD2 as she loves the breadmaker, but I still need vital ingrediants int he cupboard first which are sadly lacking through my disorganisation ont he food front !

I am so pleased things are calmer for you ! I must admit although Mr PG is 100 per cent on board I have dealt with everything debt wise since day one, it works for us most of the time. I think his philosophy is that I seem to know what I am doing ( little does he know Im still bumbling along in my own special way !! ) but when things do go a bit pear shaped and I have a rant we can talk it through together and make a decision as to where we go next. I am pleased that the diaries have helped you feel calmer. I spent months and months reading diaries for advice and information before I felt brave enough to start to contact the creditors, but once I did things between Mr PG and myself became better as there was a plan and an end in sight ( somewhere in the very very very distant future I admit, but it was there ) That was a first for us, our life had been all consumed by the debt for years and was really dragging us down. Not to say its a bed of roses now though, far from it, but its plodding along with moments of crazy stress along the very bumpy way , but we are getting there and life is better !! xxx

  • Feeling very pleased with myself as I just made a sneaky TT of £5 to wards the mortgage ! My TT's usually only consist of a few pence and go into the emergency fund, today I made £5 on fleabay and decided to give a little extra to the mortgage instead of the emergency fund. Not sure why , but the mortgage has been bugging me for a few days and as I think I was in a generous mood today, I decided tot give them my £5 !! Its hardly going to make a dent in the humungous mortgage , but hey ho it pleased me to transfer it to the mortgage account and I really hope they appreciate it ! :rotfl::rotfl:xx

  • Hi Mrs PG

Just wondering if you'd thought of doing your food shop online. I loathe doing the food shop but hubby likes it (the weirdo) so we haven't tried it ourselves yet but as I'll be out of action for a while he's considering it.

Plus you could go through the my supermarket page and see which shop is cheaper for you.

    ^^^This.

Online food shopping would be perfect for you. I don't like food shopping so get most of it online. In fact, I have just got Tesco's delivery saver for the full year for £30 of Tesco vouchers (£60 if not paying with vouchers). For this, I can have a free delivery every day if I want as long as I spend a minimum of £25 although once a week is enough for me. I can usually get a slot the next day so it means I can decide last minute when I need a shop.

I think I have actually saved money doing this too because when I was shopping in several different shops to get the bargains, I was picking up stuff that I didn't really need. Also, I spend a lot less time shopping now as you can just pick favourites off previous orders to save time.

Obviously if you aren't keen on Tesco then use one of the other supermarkets as most deliver. I really think it would be one less time-consuming thing on your to do list. :)

  • alioops and Dolphin - you are right, of course, I really should be online shopping. I do occasionally, but I ahve a terrible habit of booking a slot, then getting distracted with work, or something else, then totally forgettign to go back and complete the order. Byt he time I do its usually four hours later, the slot has been lost and I cant get the delivery for the following day so I end up hot footing it to the dreaded supermarket anyway for something for dinner for that night.

I really need a huge kick up the backside to get myself organised again. Everything has gone to pot a bit with the food. I just dont seem to be able to concentrate for long enough to plan an entire weeks worth of meals and ingredients for a week.

I need a magic meal planning fairy to sprinkle me with fairy dust and tell me what we will all eat on what day and sort it all out for me !!

  • The weekend was a success. It can sometimes be difficult on the very rare occasions that Mr PG is here as I am so used to him being away it messes with my routine as he tries to help and I get all narky as I think hes trying to take over ! But this time it fell into place.:T

Friday night, MR PG arrived home to a houseful of the girls friends. He decided he would cook up a chilli for us all , so off he went to the supermarket while I was working and made a scrummy chilli and salad and fed the five thousand. As the girls were planning to have a movie night at home with their friends, Mr PG and I decided to take ourselves off to the Cinema. We have absolutely no idea when the last time was that we even did that together, just the two of us !

Saturday after the masses had left, he took DD2 to the stables for me ! Again saving me huge amounts of time and meaning I could get on with something else that needed doing, i crammed in a couple of hours work . He then fitted new blinds in DD1s room ( She has four windows so I have been ordering one blind a month for the last four months and now we finally have them all he fitted them. We then had a re-arrange of her furniture and managed to dump about three sacks of toot and have another pile for ebay . Her room looks lovely and she is thrilled to bits. I also finally managed to sort out DD2s bedding as well which was ruined after her room was flooded earlier in the year. I got her a lovely bed set from Primarche for £14 and it didnt even need ironing and as I have an aversion to ironing, I was one happy bunny. We put it all on her bed, strung some fairy lights and had it all waiting to surprise her when she returned from the stables late on Saturday. :D The girls rooms look so cosy I think I may kick them out and move in myself. Saturday night Mr PG declared that we were all going out, back to the movies again to see a film that DD2 wanted us all to see as a family. We worked out that if we didnt go Saturday we wouldnt be able to go at all due to other commitments and work, so we went out again ! This is a rarity for me these days believe me, I felt quite grown up going out after dark ! So, we did have a few spends this weekend, but we went to the ultra cheap tiny cinema close to us so all in it wasnt as pricey as it could have been had we gone elsewhere.

Sunday DD2 had a paintballing party all day, Mr PG took her to that for me as well ! I am getting to like this having your hubby around of a weekend lark, I could get used to it ! After the success of Saturday, I decided to muck out the office which was stacked high with boxes of paperwork. I didnt finish it but it looks much much better. We then went to do some visits together which again made things less stressful as there were two of us to take the pressure. Mr PG then went shopping for Sunday Roast bits and while I cooked he collected DD2 from her paintballing for me ! Its little things that make a difference as usually as I am doing all of the pick ups and drop offs nothing else ie shopping or cooking is getting done therefore the day runs away with me. It all worked to plan. He then went back out to collect DD1 from the station as well just in time for dinner and we all sat down together (another rarity ) for Sunday Roast ! :D

We chilled Sunday night with a bottle of red while helping DD2 with revision for some tests she has this week and whilst trying to make intelligent comments and suggestion about DD1s Sociology essay, she is far brainier than me I think !

So all in all it was a perfect weekend in the PG Household !

I have started Monday morning in a nice calm mood , that doesnt happen often either, I usually wake up Monday morning feeling stressed out. I have also made a 92p TT and all in all am feeling very happy ! :D:D

perhaps you could open up a word document at the beginning of the week for meal planning and add to it throughout the day(s). Only once this is done do you then go on to the online supermarket to book your shopping. That way you have a list before you start. Book a time slot in your diary for online food shopping and treat it as a job for a client. It'll take much less time from your day and once you've done it a few times will become a habit x
