  • Been a busy money day today and am feeling quite pleased with myself. Managed to sort through some paperwork that I have been meaning to find the time to do for a very very long while.

I finally have registered online and can now see exactly how much we have left owing on the mortgage £322,000  . A horrible amount, but £10K less than I thought it was. I then worked some figures out on the overpayment calculator as to how much interest we could save and how much quicker we could pay it off if we ever find ourselves in a position to overpay. Although its not an option right now , I like to have plans and ideas in my head, so it has given me some food for thought.

Paid some more money to the Predators today and updated the signature again . :D

Finally posted the Bank Interest Claim to the Ombudsmen for them to take a look at it. It has been rejected by NW but although the chances are very very slim if I didn't at least go to the Ombudsmen to see what they have to say it will continue to bug me.

I also have huge pile of paperwork to go through re the Packaged Bank Account Claim . I did post over on the thread earlier today , as I'm not too sure which way to go about it. I think I have mentioned once before that we were running two packaged accounts side by side for years and years blissfully unaware how much we were paying and what benefits we either couldnt or werent utilising. Clearly we would not have been utilizing the benefits from both accounts both at the same time so therefore should never had two running at once in my opinion. The second account was then upgraded to an even higher monthly fee as we were told we could not get a loan or credit card unless we did so. This account was running until April this year. We were paying for two packaged accounts from 1998 - 2010 and then another continued until April this year. I am unsure whether to write two letters and deal with each account separately or lump them together with the argument that we couldn't utilize both benefits at once and should never have been sold two packaged accounts to run alongside each other. I am also unsure if I need to list the transactions over these periods of time as with the Credit Card Reclaims. I have to admit I have only skim read the MSE advice on this and haven't looked at the template letters yet, so maybe they will enlighten me further.

I have also today dug out a PPI claim that I am still battling and also chased a Flight cancellation claim that dates back to July and is being ignored.

As you can probably tell work was a little quiet today which enabled me to crack on with the above !! I like days like this ! :D

The Ombudsmen is a total shot in the dark, I think I have a no brainer of a case, NW think otherwise !! The two hundred pages of documents asking for help and telling them our financial situation and the whys and wherefores of it still didn't stop the charges of £6K ish !! If I don't get anywhere at least I know I have tried. :D

    Good Morning Pinot x

That 'double packaged account' claim is very interesting indeed and if I were fighting that one I think I would feel very confident. Make sure that in addition to complaining about being charged 'twice' for something the family could only use 'once' that you say very loudly and clearly that the bank said you needed to buy it to be accepted for credit cards / loans etc. The regulator would not tolerate this sort of behaviour at all now :)

I used to have a packaged account with the Gnat's Vest too and I had a gold debit card with it and then matching silver credit card. Brogden didn't half feel swanky :) !!! In a cost cutting exercise I said 'wots this charge' and they said I could downgrade the account and not pay. 'Do it yesterday' said Brogden and since then I have had a gaudy tramp's purple card :rotfl:!!!! I wasn't the only one having hard times.....I did better than the Gnat's Vest. I went on a DMP and they went bankrupt :) !!! Luckily for them they could have a massive cash injection of our money that we had sweated to earn and pay to THEM

I must have one of those moods on me today :rotfl:!!!

Peace......a good day ahead for us all :)

I love that mood Brogden !! I have those sometimes too ! :)

Thanks for your suggestions, I have been successful with the majority of claims I have made so far, so I am feeling positive about this one, just need to get my head around digging all the paperwork out, which I do have lurking still and getting my backside into gear and get letter writing ! I just need a few spare hours to do it with no interruptions.Wouldn't that be nice ?

The only problem I foresee is that we did on rare occasions over the years use the odd benefit, ie comission free travel money for when Mr PG was overseas with work and breakdown when the car was on its last legs 18 months ago. That could go against us I guess, but I think the argument that we could only use the benefits once yet were paying twice is a pretty good one ! It appears though the Gnats Vest as you so lovingly call them are probably the most difficult to deal with as I have found out on a few occasions now.

I will keep you updated !

Hope you have a good day x

  • This morning so far goes like this !

Woke up late....very late ! We all did, therefore was a crazy rush to get out of the door and DD1 missed her bus. I then had to rearrange my appointment to get her to college of which the roundtrip journey was an hour in the opposite direction to where I needed to be heading ! Grrr

Huge accident on the way back meant the roads were blocked so I have now come back home and am working here for now after re arranging my appointment until later in the day in the hope that the roads have cleared and I can get there. So far its looking quiet in my Broom Cupboard so I am ploughing on with invoices and paperwork etc .

On the work front all looking good, contract looks as though it may continue until at least Christmas, we also have another couple of potential new clients, just no time to work for them at the moment. We have had the nod that if this current job goes well there is potentially more work for the new year and we have other things lined up for March through to May. Its a lovely position to be in and if all goes well Mr PG will continue to be around of a weekend for the first ever time in our married life. :)

I have made a stand with the family Visitations and the pressure and so far its working. I am still finding it very very stressful but I have put my foot down and am refusing to spend hours that I havent got over there and also spending money on them to keep them amused while we were going without or it could have been used towards the debts. I am refusing to put that person before the children and Mr PG as about 10 days ago things came to a huge head and upon seeing how upset the girls were over the whole situation I knew something had to change and quickly as it was making everyone so miserable . I am realizing quite how much everything else was suffering dramatically and things had to change.

I am feeling much more positive than I have been despite money pressures and the Tax Bill looming, but I am hoping my frame of mind will let me deal with it rather than sending me into a total meltdown and that my fuzzy head will gradually clear.

I am feeling confident that the happy Mrs PG will soon be back for good, think she has been AWOL for far too long xxx
