  • Nice Things for Thursday !

A Client has paid us early ! Whoopee !! That in turn meant I could throw a little bit more money to THEM, so they have received another £300 from me today ! :D Fingers crossed, as I am expecting another payment tomorrow I may be able to give them a little bit more !

I cashed in my "Seald - ish Pot !" today . We always cash it in ready for October Half Term, we have been doing this since DD1 started school. I was expecting there to be about £20 in there max this year as most of my loose change has been given to the girls for bus fares etc before its even made it to the pot, or else it has got as far as the pot but been taken out again for the same bus fares. Hence why our pot is Sealed-ish and not totally sealed !

Anyway, I had a pleasant surprise. We have £77 in there ! :j
We will use this for a special treat for us all over half term. I have thrown a few coppers in the empty jar this afternoon to start us off for next year. :D

Upon cashing in the jar, the coinstar machine threw out loads of Euros. I have just very quickly added those up as well and discovered that there is in the region of £80 in 1 and 2 Euro Coins. :j Now I need to discover if anyone will change them up for me. If not , I will save them in a Euros Pot, as DD2 is off to Paris next year with the school . I could send her with a huge carrier bag full of change as her spending money ! :rotfl:

Great news on the jar Mrs. PG :)

Whilst I have been under my 'envelope budget' now six days out of seven, I have very little money in my 'chosen receptacle' :)

I ought to be happy.......my calculations said £30 a day so it looks like I might have hit the right daily budgetary amount! There must be some undershooting to be done but what pushes up the spend is Mrs. Brogden's ciggies and my business diesel although the cost of the latter comes back in my expenses payment. It was my intention to do some debt busting when I get paid my expenses - well see........:think:

Have a lovely day all of you :)

Yay to the early payment and another 'yay' for the Euros. As it is hard to change coins it sounds as though it will be going to DD 2's Paris fund, lucky girl :)

Does this mean that you now don't have your spending money for treats during half term break?

I used to save 50p coins for our September holiday with friends. They thought I was very well organised having my change ready for the pay phone. Luckily they never saw me at the bar or till with my bag of 50p coins:D Everyone else seems to collect £2 coins. We rarely see one here.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
'I had a black dog, his name was depression".
  • We are back.....took a few days off, headed off to visit some friends for a few days and chill a little..................... had a fun time with the exception of DD1 ending up at the Out of hours surgery at the local hospital the day after we arrived and DD2 throwing up all over everyone and everything loaded into the back of the car on the way home, whilst we were stuck in a seven hour traffic jam. The beginning and end didn't go well but the bit in between was lovely ! :D

The Sealdish Pot money was put to good use with a spot of Body Boarding, this time only DD2 and Mr PG as DD1 was too poorly so I kept her company. They had a fab time though and managed to catch a few waves despite it being a fairly calm day wave wise.

Back down to earth with a bump now , a mammoth amount of washing to be done, homework and coursework coming out of the girls ears, Visitations to be made today and a few jobs to be done over there, then Mr PG will repack and head away again this evening until next Saturday.

A few TT's made to various pots while I have been away and hopefully next week the majority of the Tax bill should be kicked into touch. Then the battle begins to pay the new one ! Whoopee !!

Will be back later for a read and catch up on your diaries.

Hope you are all well xxx

  • Hi PG, Glad you had a lovely time away all together (even if DD was a little poorly, bless her).

Hope the visit goes ok, sending hugs for that one.

    Take care.x.

    Thanks Pennywise.

It was exhausting, but in the grand scheme of things not too bad all things considered. Mr PG was with me , so it made it much easier as she darent do anything too bad in front of him . I think she knows better than that, so it eased the pressure hugely. He is the apple of her eye and as he was doing lots of DIY jobs for her shes not daft enough to cause a scene and she is well aware he will down tools and ship us all out of the there quick sharp ! Knows what side her bread is buttered on thats for sure. She was angling for us to go next weekend as well, to do more jobs. I have reminded her that we have a fair few things of our own and as this is the first time in 18 years that he has been about of a weekend and that we need some time to ourselves and to catch up on our own jobs. It was met with silence, but I have told her its not happening. Thats Something I wouldn't have dared to do a couple of months back. I will go over one evening and hang some curtains and bits for her , if I can find the time.

    xx

  • Monday morning goes like this.

I have a huge list as long as my arm to complete , I have been ploughing through it since 6am but feeling extremely organised as I put big red lines through the page as I cross things off.

Loads of work to catch up also, having been away. A nice bit of work has appeared for Spring next year, so I will be trying to get that 100 per cent confirmed today fingers crossed. :D

I have just made a £200 payment to THEM and have also done some TT's as well. 13p to the loan !! It all helps ! :rotfl:

Had a response while we were away from FOS re the Bank Charges reclaim. They say that as it is more than 6 months since NW gave us their final response that they cannot take the case on as NW wouldn't be too impressed. ( I cant remember the exact wording ) They have asked me to explain why the 6 months have passed and why I haven't got in touch sooner. They want proof as to my reasons why. If they deem them acceptable they will approach the bank and see if they will allow the case to be re opened. I am sure this is protocol, but I'm not exactly sure what proof I can give other than dealing with Bereavement, poorly kids, GCSE stresses with poorly kids, absent hubbies, money arrears, draining relatives and no time to do a wee let alone write to them etc etc. How I can provide proof of any of the above is anyones guess really. Maybe Im on my soap box but I find it really irritating. Does it really matter if I contacted them on month 7 instead of month 6 , or is it me ?

Actually, maybe I should just write them a list of all the reasons I haven't had an opportunity to get in touch and they can take their pick as to which excuse they like the best ?! :rotfl:xx

Happy Monday everyone, hope its not rainy and miserable where you are xx

The same happened to me Mrs. PG :( It was a PPI complaint with Capital One. I went to the FOS seven months after the final response rather than six! I knew I should have done it earlier but was absolutely bombed out and less organised than I am now......and that's not saying much!

The FOS called me and they weren't exactly persuading me to keep going if you know what I mean. I didn't ever follow it up with an explanatory letter and that's not to try and put you off - you should go back and explain in writing what you have been through, hoping that they don't stoop to ask for documentary evidence.

I complained recently to the Gnat's Vest for (as you probably know) masquerading for years as 'Try-it-on Credit Services' (Triton:)!!) The Gnats Vest wrote back saying they didn't understand and could not possibly agree as they had behaved in a truly clear and transparent fashion. I didn't take that to the FOS - I only complained to be awkward as Wonga were taken to the cleaners for doing the same thing as the Gnat's Vest has done since I were a lad :rotfl:!!

Anyway......you should certainly write back to the FOS giving your reasons :)

Oooh the Gnats Vest are my least favourite people ever Brogden. I feel as you do I think, I feel I have to complain whether I get anywhere or not, as I believe that they have behaved appallingly and I need to make my point. If I don't it will bug me forever. I would like to think that someone somewhere is having sleepless nights over their behaviour. :rotfl:

The FOS have asked for Documentary evidence already. I they think I am providing them a copy of my dads death certificate or letters from the doctors concerning DD they can stick their letter where the sun dont shine ! I am in one of those moods today ! A reply to them was on my to do list yesterday, but the list ran away with me so has now been carried over today !

In the meantime we have the more pressing matter of DD1s entire A Level work for all four subjects to date, disappear before our very eyes at about 10pm last night ! Turns out she hasn't saved any of her work anywhere other than on the memory stick which decided to go kaput. How she will ever be able to catch back up from this is anyone's guess.

Off to make a few calls to some computer bods to see if anyone can do anything to help  xx
