Both lemons and limes are really nice added to any food, especially greens, though you don't seem to have received many. If you make any salad dressings with the herbs perhaps they'd be nice added to those, too. I think muffins would be nice, maybe with poppy seeds, and biscuits would be good too. If there's nothing you can think of to do with them, grate the peels into sugar (like making vanilla sugar! lovely with pancakes and on top of cakes) and freeze the juice in cubes for when you do need it
Edit: and of course you can just add slices of them to drinks!
You can also freeze the grated peel. I keep mine in those tiny little glass jars in which they serve jam and marmalade in some cafes. I recently took one out of the freezer that had been in there for two years and it was still lovely and lemony smelling when I opened it.0 -

Recieved my first veg box today (not organic, but local... £12.50). In it I found...
I large cauliflower
I large butternut squash
250g Asparagus
600g carrots with tops
600g cabbage (pointy)
750g (2 heads) broccoli
500g Onions
2.176kg Potatoes
I've already done my meal plan though so I'm going to try to fit them in and things I can't I'll make dishes and freeze. Hubby 'doesn't like' Cauliflower so I will have to do something exciting like curry with it I think. No idea what to do with apsparagus apart from bbq it and we're not having one this week, it needs using fresh as possible so any ideas welcome.
I worked out this lot would have cost £11 at Tesco so not cheaper but better quality undoubtedly and it was delivered free.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

My £14 box this week contained,
Carrots
Potatoes,
onions,
large head broccoli,
1 white cabbage,
tomatoes,
1 very large Aubergine,
1 floppy celery
Dunno if they were closing for the long holiday weekend,but i felt my box contents werent as fresh as usual..hopefully a "1 off"..il still try them again next week,I enjoy the mystery(sad i know)and the convenience of free delivery.
I forgot to tell them No Aubergines..yuk...what am i going to do with it?..Mousaka?..it will need to be hidden in something,but still remain big enough to pick out so it doesnt ruin the whole meal if no-one likes it..any ideas?..oh and how long do i have to soak it before cooking?Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly

I'm with your DH on that - the only good place for cauliflower is in the compost bin as far as I'm concerned! _pale_ I like my asparagus pan fried in a bit of butter then served on toast with a poached egg for a weekend brunch. I really hope there's some in my box tomorrow now I've mentioned that idea. :drool:
cooking-mama - how about aubergine parmigiana (layered with tomato sauce and mozzarella)? I suggest that as it's my sister's favourite and she can't stand aubergines usually. Alternatively it's really nice in a curry - either Indian or Thai style - but then I love aubergines so I may not be the best person to advise you!You shouldn't need to soak it or anything before cooking - just chop and cook.

I've just taken the plunge and ordered my first veg box from abel & cole....I'm actually quite excited, though delivery day in my area is a tuesday, so got a long wait for it.....:heart2::heart2:On ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur :heart2::heart2:we're debt freeeeeeeeeeeee....FREEEEDOM!!! :j:T0

I have 2 round courgettes and broad beans come in my box (my first time having one) But don't know what to do with them, anyone got any ideas???
Also I have bunched onions, can you do anything with the green tops? Would rather eat them than bung them in the bin!0 -
If you fancy doing something different with your courgettes, why not try making a cake with them, like this one? Have never tried it myself, but keep meaning to as it sounds interesting - if you Google there's loads of recipes, you can even do courgette and chocolate cake, it's supposed to be really moist and lovely.Pax Et Bonum0

Round courgettes might look nice stuffed, I feel - cut them in half, hollow out the seeds then stuff with bolognese, chilli con carne or similar and bake until tender. (Stuffed courgettes are a favourite of mine and are what I usually recommend, but I do think stuffed round courgettes might be specially attractive.
)
I like broad beans in tomato sauce or in a risotto - if you use some of the water you cooked the beans in then you end up with a pretty pink risotto.(If you haven't cooked them before, remember that, unless they're really tiny, you need to remove the grey 'cover' of each bean before eating as this is tough, chewy and not very nice to eat. I find the easiest way is to pod the beans, cook them in boiling water for a minute or so, then cool them in cold water: the skins then slip off quite easily with the aid of a sharp knife.)
And finally... you can eat the green tops of onions - if they're very coarse they might be better cooked but otherwise they'll be fine as they are.
