I'm still enjoying getting my weekly veg Bag it comes every wednesday from farmaround north. We're currently getting the Mediterean bag with it being the summer with a few extra veggies, then will go back to either the Sandard or luxary bag in the autumn/winter. We've been getting 25% discount for 4 weeks as a trial from them and they have rang every week after delivery to check we are happy with this (think this is just during the initial trial. They have loads of grocery products that you can buy as well. The veg is the tastiest ever, and they have the most delicous tomatoes. I would recommend them to everyone, in the North East

Just got my fortnightly box from Organic Country Store (used to be Fair Organics)

    This weeks contents:

Lots of Chard ( what shall I do with it this time?)
    Lovely Aubergine (Moussaka - :j )

Carrots - (fancy these grated with some raisins and orange juice)

3 yellow courgettes (pretty so might add to some pasta)

    7 medium potatoes (always handy)

2 medium onions (again always handy)

4 small onions (will put whole into a stew)

    1 grapefruit (tomorrows breakfast)

    2 bananas (one each:D )

2 apples (don't seem to be getting much fruit in the boxes anymore! )

Was thinking of getting a box every week but will check out the competition for the other 2 boxes a month.

Have just ordered a small mixed organic box from Abel and Cole to be delivered on alternate weeks with the Organic Country Stores one. I will compare and see which is the best quality. Abel and Coles cost £1.50 less! :j Have spend £1.40 of the savings on a box of organic eggs to be delivered as well as this is cheaper than supermarkets organic eggs. Will compare and see which is best quality.

Decided to steam some of yesterdays chard and served it with a tiny bit of butter, some sea salt, pepper and balsalmic vinegar. Also steamed the stems. Worked well! I am going to use the rest in a salad.

I get mine from Sunnyfields which are local in Totton, Southampton (http://www.sunnyfields.co.uk/) Today I got a £15 Sunnyfield selection which had

    Big bag of spuds
    Bunch of carrots
    6 x beetroot
    Big bag of chard
    Bag of tomatoes
    4 x small butternut squash
    Bag of runner beans
    3 x big leeks
    Big bag of rocket
    bag of courgettes
    6 x white onions

I also ordered half a dozen eggs, some flat leaf parsley and treated myself to an organic chicken (1.5kg at £9.40).

The veg just tastes so much better and its certainly focussed me on making more veg side orders. Made a veg curry to go with my pork chop tonight. I also have a crockpot recipe for honey lemon beets so I'll be having those with my chicken tomorrow or Saturday.

Sure, haven't tried it yet though so not sure if it works, looks like it will, peel and quarter your beets, add sliced onion (which can be softened before if desired), then add (for 8 beets or 6-8 servings) 2tbsp honey, 2tbsp lemon juice, seasoning and they suggest 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg but I hate nutmeg so that won't be going in. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or hgh for 4-5 hours or until beets are tender. I'll let you know how they taste on Saturday.

I have mine from Flights Orchard Organics, and today I had a martian cauliflower.

Anyone else have one?? It's real name is Romanesque, but it's really really weird looking.
