The fact you don't understand is something I can't quite get my head round.Do you live on Mars by any chance?0 -

I can guarantee, he is not pregnant!
As for the rest, well!

Just change the word retailer to Vet
The advise I gave.Blackbeard_of_Perranporth wrote: »A lot of other people in the parish have given their considered advice on this matter, and it is quite an entertaining read, if you have half an hour or so to spare, OP has, in a way, not liked all the answers they have been given, and there is a lot of conjecture.
BoP will now give his considered advice to OP
Yes, you can sue said retailer for selling you dangerous goods, and good luck with your case. I will follow this gladly in the law reports of my national newspaper in months to come. Though, before you get a rush of blood to the head, I doubt very much, a solicitor will be willing to take up your cause, without a substantial financial endownment.
Unfortunately, others have given advise here as well, but OP seems to think that ranting in the early hours gives some solice. Perhaps they do for OP. It is an open forum. You can, of course if you desire, choose to use an ignore function, that removes from your view, those who have an opinion that is against yours.
This then will leave you with a blinkered view of this thread.0 -

People post on these forums because they have issues with services provided, family etc. I have posted originally on consumer rights as I had issue with service provided. So here is my rant again. I did not post because I was grieving and I was not looking for sympathy. My dog died in December I posted in October when I realised that pet owners have a much worse deal that other consumers and since my dog was a “thing” according to the law I did not see any reason why I should not exercise my consumer rights as one would when losing their property or had bad service. For example if your washing machine was not working properly and you got an engineer to sort it out and after the service /repair you have paid them but next time you have used it it flooded and did a lot of damage to your kitchen. Now would you just let it be and cut your losses or would you go back to the people who have “repaired” your washing machine and ask for a refund and payment for the damage to your kitchen? What if you got second opinion on your washing machine and you were told that the repair was not good enough but your original engineer insisted he did a good job despite of the fact that it flooded and damaged your kitchen. Would you let it go? Or would you insist on being paid back the money they have charged you for a shoddy work? I bet most of you would try to get your money back. Well my Maxie was not a washing machine the more reason to stand up to my consumer rights. Don’t care if I am fighting vets, RCVS or washing machine engineer by law what is the difference? To me the difference is I have lost a living animal I have cared for for many years, Maxie the “thing”. That consumer right that I believe I have is worth fighting for.0

But your example of a washing machine - if it had flooded, the engineer's insurance would pay out for the damage caused. You wouldn't go after the engineer hoping to put them out of business, would you?
Also, if the second engineer said "here's 20 things which it could have been" and you said, no, it's not one of them, it's a 21st one, told him what you thought the 21st one was, and he said, there's a tiny possibility it could be that, but in my experience that is very unlikely indeed, then why would you ignore his advice and knowledge and pursue this 21st one?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Yes exactly the engineer's/vet's insurance should pay out, but would you ask the same engineer to fix your washing machine again or recommend them to your friends? This was just an example. It did not happened to me.0 -
I have e-mailed today the insurance brokers and gave them until this Friday. The response was quick saying they have passed on the message.
I think I gave them enough time and I cannot have this hanging over me any more. One way or the other will be be known in 3 days.0
