Oh and deliver my parcels instead of posting a red card and expecting me to go to the sorting depot to collect it.0

Today's TNT post included an offer for Domino's pizza. A week long offer that expired November 24th. I'm presuming it should have been here two weeks ago..0

RM are pretty good round here. Daily delivery 8.45- 9.30 am. The collection office is about a mile away and is open till 6pm. PF depot is 40 miles away but they leave parcels at the local sub PO which is half a mile. This service will hopefully improve in the new year as the PO is moving to a local convenience store and will operate 7 days a week 7am - 11pm. The only "delayed" deliveries I seem to get is from people who are blatant liars. Ordered last Monday and posted 2nd class "same day", post office must have had their stamp set wrong as it said Thursday, arrived Saturday !
Our local council use TNT, most of their post as expected is local. Items were collected, transported 200 miles, sorted then sent back to the local RM DO at the other end of the high street for delivery taking 2 days ! They have now changed the local stuff back to RM after complaints about the delays and not very green service.0 -

Our council too, I would assume that given the delays in people receiving bills/reminders/etc will have cost them more than they've saved. Surely councils should be supporting large regional employers. Royal Mail, even privatised, is still a British company and still part government owned, councils using another company is quite ridiculous.
well the flip answer is shouldnt coucils be getting the best prices for services?0 -

My local council has a track record of bad decisions having lost millions trying to earn a few extra quid banking with BCCI..0 -
It depends on the service doesn't it? It shouldn't always be about price. IF RM are charging them 35p and TNT offer to do it for 25p they should consider whether the service will be up to standard before jumping in. Time sensitive mail arriving a week late is not worth anything.
