    Wow, time flies!
We're recently returned from returning unused items from the kitchen reno to the Swedish store. We did get a surprisingly large amount of money refunded, which was lovely. But by the time we left to go home, boy! the traffic was stoopid busy. You know when people seem to lose what commonsense they might once have had? Twas like that :D Very glad Pip stayed home. And it means that there's no longer an obstacle course in the downstairs loo

  • We have a reindeer with sleigh that lights up on the front flat roof. Lowering the tone of the neighbourhood...

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Christmas day has been christmassed, and we had a quiet but jolly time of it.
I didn't get any sweets or chocs, which is a very good thing indeed!
I'm still writing the last few letters to go in with cards, oops!

Last day of our hols. The light-up reindeer + sleigh are down from the flat roof and the outside fairy lights are all inside. We've been lucky to return so late B). Tomorrow is Pip's first day back and my first day of a string of 8 days of invigilating.
I'm on day 6 of no added sugar and it's going rather well, if I say so myself! A friend has joined me and we're doing it until the end of March. I'm recording everything I eat on my f1tb1t app, to ensure I get enough protein. The days of invigilating will not involve a lot of moving around, as I'm doing 1-1, which involves an awful lot of sitting down! I do have a 2 hour slot free on Fri midday, so will either go to the gym or just come home to workout.
I'm currently watching the WSM final - very grateful for recorded TV! I love this event!
We've booked our flights our to Canada today. Yay! We arrive around midday so we're going to pick up a car and drive to Banff for a few days before travelling on to stay with step DD1 + family. Hopefully there'll still be plenty of snow...

I now have a 17 year old! Who is still my baby ♥️
Pip has been suffering with a tummy bug. Threw up at school a week ago so was sent home and off for 48 hours - much needed. Then again today, he felt like he was going to be sick, and was even paler than usual, and was sent home. He will have missed 4 of the first 7 school days.
I also had the tummy bug, but it went down rather than up. Phew 🤣
Two more days of invigilating left. The pay will arrive at the end of next month.

Aaand, Pip needed 3 days off school last week due to a rough and nasty cold. It is so frustrating for him, this being off with poorlinesses not related to his ASD. Have had a chat today - about dropping to 2 A levels and an AS in the other one (physics). He needs time to think about it - obviously - and to realise that his worth is not tied to his academic performance (his words, not mine). He would then have more study periods at school, to use to complete the school work and hwk for the 2 subjects, plus have time and energy to do all the things he wants to do outside of school. In short, life should be more enjoyable.
In other news, I made an awesome savoury bread pudding today.

I have requested and received a rebate from Mr Taxman - over 900 squid, it was. And it's my money, not his!
My annual coeliac blood test came back all normal. It's official - I'm normal!
