Today's adventures include driving up the coast road to the Daintree rain forest - they're still getting it all driveable after the cyclone in Dec 23- and getting the ferry over the river Daintree.
And then we went treetop ziplining, which was absolutely amazing.

We spent today traveling to and from Kuranda in the rainforest. And it RAINED all day !!!! All the amazing views you get on the train journey were shrouded in cloud on the way up; but were clear on the way down. On the return journey we sat opposite a couple of blokes from Melbourne and chatted all the way down. Turns out that they go climbing at the place in Melbourne that we went to! Small world, eh?
Unfortunately, the gluten free lemon slice Pip had wasn't gluten free. He was sick on the bookshop floor in Cairns -oops- where the lady was so kind. He and I then spent about 90 mins in the loo as he continued to empty his digestive system. DH was the one going around getting fresh clothes, sick bags... Poor Pip 🤢.
    I haven't mentioned this to anyone, but it's dh's turn next🤣🤣🤣
I have two plans for tomorrow. Firstly to walk along the full length of four mile beach. This will also involve walking back along it too! And secondly, Pip wants to go back to the second hand bookshop with me and dh.

Today has been a lovely day. I woke around 7, so got up and went to four mile beach. I trotted down to the far end, turned and trotted back, getting progressively slower and slower. In the end, I took off my trainers and socks and walked through the sea. It was about calf deep, so was fairly hard work. I walked all the way to the other end, then made my weary way home. I covered 6.6 miles, so maybe there was more beach beyond where I turned. But 6.6 miles was more than enough!
And today's weather has been off piste too. The forecast was rain all day; the reality was sunshine with a little cloud and a good breeze. It's been lovely.
Pip had a good sleep and we all went along to the bookshop. It's an amazing place and mixes new and used books. We also bought a few gifts and had an ice cream from the amazing ice cream shop. They do different flavours every day, all gluten free, and about 10 of them are non-dairy, so pip is ok.
Now we're all chilling out, knowing that we need to pack, but don't want to!

And we're in Melbourne! We had a very smooth journey here and dsd2 picked us up. The bed is fabulous! Soooo comfy. It's very clearly winter here, though we've missed the worst of it, and Aussie houses don't tend to have insulation!
We're planning several days of chilling out, given that we were busy up in Port Douglas.

Today we went to the nearby Op Shop and for 27 dollars, got: 2 balls of fluffy wool, 2 pieces of fabric, a quality skipping rope, a ring, a bracelet, a top for Pip, a shirt for me and 2 pairs of lycra legs with pockets!

Bargains galore, do the various purchases mean you'll have more return luggage that on the flight out?🤔

    Umm, maybe... 🤣🤣🤣
We've already got rid of our neck pillows as none of us could sleep in them! And obviously given the presents we brought over. And we've a few items that dsd will give to the op shop for us.
    But, yeah, full cases!!!

And, we're home. Yay! Knackered doesn't begin to describe it. We're so grateful for a friend picking us up from the station.
Having stayed in 5 different places, I realise just how filthy our house is! So that gives a full list of jobs for the rest of the month 🤣
I think that I just don't travel well, especially over long distances.
