I was in bed for a straight 12 hours, with about 5 visits to the loo 🤣 The first time I woke up, I remember wondering where I was!!!
So, 8 to 8 done, I trotted to the gym (bus and tram, as car not been used for over a month), and had a lovely gentle sesh followed by a mini shop in liddle. Ah, but it's good to be back!
I took Pip to his friend's house after lunch, and stayed there. Much easier than a potential 2 hours of driving. Had a v nice time.
In the house, I've swept downstairs so it's much much nicer to walk around bare foot. And tried to hoover the rug, but the Hoover's misbehaving so I'll need to get out the monster hoover tomorrow.

welcome home. Loved catching up with the travel log.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Today has been busy and it's still not even tea time!
An early morning gentle gym sesh; a shop at liddle- scored a veg box; Pip took himself out -twice!; dh and I did the undercoat for new plaster plus the top coat (currently all white) in the kitchen area; plus all the cleaning up cos we're messy painters! And I hoovered the rug, as that seems to be a muck magnet and being dark green, it shows all the muck. I even hoovered the stairs 😎.
Dh has ordered some bamboo folding bar stools.
And tomorrow we're going to seek out a new fridge-freezer and possibly some v pale green paint and a thingy to go round the kitchen tap to gather all the water.

That is so lovely you have come back with 'fresh eyes' and can see the way forward with your house.  I am still a bit overwhelmed by mine.  So much left to do, and every bit of it is going to be spendy.
Do you think Pip is more confident after travelling all around the world and, apart from being poisoned, nothing bad happening?  It sounded fabulous, so fabulous I asked DH to expand his job search to include Australia - he said he already had!
So I had better get on with fixing up this house eh? In preparation of going global in the job market... and  having to sell .....

If you end up in Australia, well definitely come and visit you 😎
Yesterday we dropped Pip off at a friend's house and went off to do stuff at lkea (plant for dh, picture frames for the fabulous Australian tea towels we have, coat hangers, a couple of door mats, drawer linings), cooorrys (new fridge-freezer scouting expedition - oh, if only we'd expanded the space by another couple of centimetres when the kitchen was done, then i could have had a smeeg f/f), sainz (the usual gf stuff plus a gf df cake we can all eat tomorrow when it's dh's bday).
We're now basically finishing off the kitchen and realising that the work, although good, cut quite a few corners. However, we're on it, even if it takes us several hours for what seems like a small task🤣. Glass side inserts/panels now inserted on the drawers - once we found the things to hold one end, that hadn't been put on. They were in amongst the bag of bits left. Cutlery drawer insert drawer made and attached.
About 50% of the drawers and shelves have a liner cut to size, so we can start putting stuff back soon.

We had a double oven thingy installed, with a view to using the top one for grilling pip's food. We knew it also doubled as a microwave, but figured we'd not bother using it for that. Guess what?! We're now going to use it as a microwave, use the bottom one as a grill, and eventually get rid of the bulky freestanding microwave.
The fridge freezer is now in its place and we've started putting food back in the cupboards, which feels like good progress.

I'm back in the habit of going to the gym - I just didn't feel like doing much when we were away, probably due to all the travelling. I'm going to go to Málaga late October to see my son in law doing a triathlon representing Canada. I'm rather excited! But I'd rather be a smidge slimmer... Just need to book a flight and accommodation, though...
Pip is understandably very anxious about results day tomorrow. So he is spending this afternoon with his best friend.
He was given a stupid amount of 'holiday hwk' to do. We went to see the Rocky Horror show as part of the drama work. But he is now questioning whether he actually continues with drama, and this has come about by how to present the show to the group without them sniggering or saying mean things. It's a small group, and Pip has concerns about 90% of them. I think that, for his own mental health, he should change to another subject. Hopefully tomorrow will help to clarify his choices and options.

PIp does not need that.  Better to change to another subject.
