Slightly unsettling with the talk of redundancies, but no harm in looking at the finances just in case, but hoping for the best

    Hi Goldie,

I agree with you! As he will have only been there for 13 months, the redundancy won't be much. So we may have to move from frugal to downright stingy!

Am up to 11,900 steps so far! Had to play 'race the bus' to get to appt on time, but all was ok. I did the aldee shop with a calculator, and was able to use the voucher AND carry it all.

Think I'll do some wrapping and hiding presents for a bit :D

    Hi AM,
Is it a large company he works for? If so there may be people with long service and over 55 who are desparate to leave? Unless it is his specific job that is redundant, they have to offer the redundancies for volunteers, before any compulsaries. Things have a habit of working out though, and im sure if its him that has to go, a new door will open for him.
    Mortgage £242500 on completion
    FD CC 11/2014 £5900 (£3900 after BT)
    FD loan Approx £5700

    Deeply depressing total - £254100

Hello, thanks for commenting. Yes, it is a big company, so hopefully some people will wish to leave due to age. However, dh himself is 'the wrong side of 55'. It is early days yet...

So, cake has been made. More cheese scones too. No little friend today - maybe Friday. Did note down some bill dates and amounts, so feeling more informed, even if the information is currently on a scrap of paper torn from a notebook!

And 4 bunnies finished off - yippee!

Spending analysis makes for interesting reading. It's not too detailed, but provides info on NSDs, charity shop spending, outings and food - with shop name too.

I'd currently like to have a frugal December, food-wise. Christmas is not a biggie, although when asked, dh said he'd like pork. PORK?!?! Yes. Roasted. I have never ever roasted pork! Anyhow, frugal food will probably only happen as and when dh is away!

The amount I have been spending in charity shops was fascinating and mostly going over what I had allocated each month! So, I shall need to itemise every spend. I did do this for a couple of months, but didn't sustain it.

Dh, full of a stinking cold, has to go and do some PA stuff tonight so it'll be a quiet evening...

Well, dh was in fairly late last night. And HE FORGOT HIS KEY so had to ring the doorbell. Twonk! Fortunately, dd didn't wake up, or I'd have throttled him!

Am thinking I shall peruse the SHTF threads, although I'm pretty sure I know where we need to cut back in a worst case scenario. I just haven't quite gotten around to doing it yet!!!

My rough guestimate re annual outgoings comes to about £600 pcm, including mortgage interest but no repayments or our giving. Obviously, redundancy would mean dh's giving stops! Oops - it doesn't include food either! And has no fund for car repairs... So, all in all, it's not really reliable! :rotfl:.

  • How did cousin G become my cousin?

If you move house, what happens to your bank?

Why didn't they have uncle's service when they had the funeral?

What was gma's surname before she got married?

Why do YOU have to go?

Just a few of the questions put to me in the last 30 mins when dd was supposed to be getting to sleep! Poor mite really doesn't want me to go tomorrow. Shehas agreed to decorate her 2' plastic tree and take photos to show me. She added that she will decorate daddy like a Christmas tree and take pics of that too!

Started perusing the shtf threads but couldn't get enthused. Maybe because my s hasn't yet htf! I know dd would be ecstatic if I ended up being the one at home all the time...

Back from a mammoth amount - for me - of train travel (12 hours in a 32 hour window), and after downing a big glass of water, I did a workout and had a bath. This left me feeling so much better!

Dd was certainly very pleased to have me back. But I wouldn't not have gone. Although I'm hoping not to have to go again in the foreseeable future! It makes sense in my head ...

Discussions are underway with dd about her birthday. I now know how she wants the cake to look, and have some specific present ideas (books, tee shirt, make up and hair clips!). So good progress!

The NST mini challenge for this last week in November is to use the last few days carefully, to scrimp and save every penny, to exercise every day, to know exactly where each penny goes.

I shall end the month with money in the bank. I have spent a lot on travel to Cornwall, but paid for Elsa on the cc. That is paid off, but I need to recoup the £120 spent. Oh, and acquire the £130 cash needed for the day itself! Roadkill alone won't help much - if only the joy I get at finding it could up its value 100 or 1000-fold!

So, 8 days left. 1x aldee shop. 1x school Cmas fair for dd. New ballet shoes for dd.

Enough wittering for now. Off to bed! :D
