Decision made. Not taking up the contract offer due to mum's funeral. But will ask to be considered for next year...

Only a few scripts done today - 4 - but I finished a centre to send to my team leader and made a teeny tiny start on another centre that is fully loaded on the pesky system.
I had a list of things I thought of doing today, but actually did very few of them. A friend invited me round in the afternoon for a coffee and a natter, which was lovely but meant that I really didn't feel like doing much afterwards.
I have got dc to and from school, done 120 burpees, invigilated this morning, seen a friend, needle felted a teacup scene, marked a little, moved up a level on my game.
I hope tomorrow is as easy in reality as it looks on paper. No y13 (2 lessons); y10 on exams (2 lessons); 1 free; 1 junior lesson. However, I have exam papers to mark from the week before half term plus the y10 ones from yesterday.
Big sis went all 'big sis' on me and has asked if I was going to take any compassionate leave and giving myself a break. To be honest, I'm not sure...

I'm so glad you've listened to big sis.  You're very active, you can't keep up at that pace while dealing with this.  And yes, work is the thing to let go - just don't fill the time with unpaid work, please!  Feed your soul 🌈

  • I agree with Karmacat, and Big Apple Sis. Your bucket can only hold so much, and grief will be taking up a big chunk of space right now, even if you feel "okay" or think to yourself "I knew this was going to happen so I should be able to cope fine".

And let's face it, you don't owe work anything and they're going to have to learn to cope without you anyway. Time for others to start picking up the France trip reins etc.

just caught up on a few days. So sorry for your loss, sending love.  And big sis is right in this instance I feel, glad you listened.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Got a sick note until Mon.
But have already decided to ask for it to be extended to June 23rd, and then see how I go.

Quite right too.  My sister was a FT teacher when my BiL died, at the beginning of the Easter holidays.  She had several days off for various issues during the summer term, she wasn't asked to do the Saturday duties or after-school duties that were the lot of the teachers at that school, they were very good for that whole term, and they volunteered it, she didn't have to be fight for it.

    Sending love.

Went to pick pip up from school this afternoon. Got a text message from them saying that they'd fallen down on a staircase and hurt their ankle. The nurse ascertained that it wasn't broken, gave ice and ibu and a crutch and they hobbled to the car. Poor thing! It was only one stair but the weight of their school rucksack must have also played a part...
Anyhow, they are in pain, regularly icing the foot/ankle. It's nicely swollen and should colour up well!
