Apple, you've just had a very close bereavement - can't work find a substitute, or are you self employed in the sense of no work, no pay?

Thanks, Karma, but it is doing me good to have another focus, ie the exam board work. I had already planned most of next half term before we broke up, so not much to think about there. Plus, I don't care that much now...

As regards my school job, I've not let them know yet. I am going to request leave of absence for the funeral. I'm taking the Friday off regardless of what they say. The funeral is on a Thursday in Bham. I'll travel up with Pip on Weds afternoon and dh will travel up on Weds evening. Dh and Pip will travel back home on Thurs evening, so Pip can start their recovery after an intense day and the travelling. But I don't plan to travel back home, as I have to be in Manchester for the Sat+Sun for my other bit of marking.

I may well yet fall apart, but I know that my GP will sign me off if I ask him to.

Pip is now at a friend's house ad is sleeping over, so I have time to mark. And most of tomorrow too, as they'll probably go to bed for a few hours when they get back!

Dh is back from the hospital - the gelatinous gunk is nothing to worry about and the consultant is actually pleased with his eyesight. Phew.

33/200 marked. Not uploaded scores yet as that part of the system is not playing nicely. But that is just number crunching and copying out, so doesn't require too much brain.

I've been looking at the June NST challenge set by grandmanerd. Basically it's about flotsam and jetsam and is super cool .

I have rather a busy month, so ned to keep looking ahead and planning.

7 days at work

2 fairs (on consecutive days - eek)

2 days in Mancunia, straight after a few days in Brum

1 counselling session

1 sports day

1 kids klub

1 prizegiving

1 college to visit

1 funeral

Busy times, and the weather forecast is set to be fab for the next week solidly.  21 degrees and full on sunshine.  If you are heading to Manclands, all bets are off.  Nowhere rains like Mancenstein outside of Delhi in the monsoon season.

51/200 now done, but still only 4/200 uploaded

And another exam board have sent me a contract to accept or decline! I'm going to read through it carefully, as it is very differently worded from what I'm used to. And ponder the deadline. And message a friend who has marked for them and ask her for her opinion.

The pay is about £2 per script less than my usual, but if they are quicker to mark, then it would balance out... But I'd be learning a whole new way of marking... Anyhow, I have 7 days to respond...

It never rains but it pours!  Hopefully it pours lots of lovely money into the apple family coffers.  Can you at least mark your scripts with your legs in the sun?  
They say if you want something done, ask a busy person.  
Happy for you that you are so in demand that they are coming to you now.

I can mark writing stuff in the sun, so long as I can see the screen clearly enough. I guess I could do the same with the speaking, as I use earphones anyway...

What with getting marking 1 done before the funeral, then straight into marking 2, along with job 1( school!) And invigilating (job 3), it might jusube a smidge too much...

That said, I now have just 9 working days left, one of which is sports day and another should be my trip to Boulogne. So that makes 7 working days😎
