When I invigilated I ended up doing it most of the academic year - summer exams were the busiest, yes, but there was also the November aerial, internal exams for years 10 through 13 (1 set of approx 2 weeks per each year group), the various maths challenges run by ukmt, CATS testing, admissions testing (mainly in Sept for following year but also in year entry throughout the year), University entrance admissions tests... we ran lots throughout the year 🙂

This promises well for the future- thanks greent! You've given me a boost! I'd rather not do what you were doing, being at 2 different centres, so the more I can do at pip's place, the better.

Thanks for the wishes for pip and dh. He only had an 'off' morning, really, which is a relief. Pip continues to be very poorly. We did go out this afternoon to meet up with pip's friend + mum, in a coffee shop. Two hours of chatting all round! Rather too much, really, as pip hasn't stopped coughing since we got home. Oops! But pip wouldn't have missed it for the world!
I've been having a look back through what I wrote around this time, both on here and in my paper diaries for the last few years. It shows that I have been remarkably lax about noting any goals, challenges and then checking up on anything I said I'd do 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
I am not even halfway through my current notebook, yet I feel the need to start a fresh notebook for 2023 and to write things on random pages so that I 'discover' them throughout the year. What sort of things? Quotes I jotted down over the years in those old notebooks. Goals for the year, repeated as a useful reminder. Basically, anything I fancy! I have a choice of notebooks I could use.
And what about '23 things to accomplish in 2023'? One could be 'resign' 🤣🤣🤣. Another could be 'exam board work'.

Oooh - love 23 things in 2023 - and also the idea of putting things in a notebook to discover again at a later date! 😀  x

That sounds an interesting way to use a notebook, to pre-write in it at random, wow!

Sorry Pip is so ill, though, it's very hard at Christmas in particular.

You have both decided me! I'll start that new notebook and will write in some random things to re-discover at a later date. This means that I also get a chance to mooch through the last x years of notebooks and look at what I highlighted in them. Oooh, a fun afternoon ahead...
We've concluded that pip probably has flu. It fits all the symptoms, notably the continuous cough and loss of appetite, the fluctuating temp we had on Mon and Tues, the lethargy, the snot... Poor thing is just soooo poorly.

Poor Pip! At least they got to see their friends, and now they can have a little bit of forced relaxation and pampering.

Poor Pip! I hope she can enjoy Christmas and you all stay well.   Has she got a bell to ring for room service? Xx
  • Humdinger, the idea of a bell always reminds me of the s1mpsons episode where Homer hurts his back and is constantly ringing the bell for Marge...! I tell pip to ring the house phone if they need me, as my phone is often on silent or very very quiet. To be fair, I'm popping in/up to see them every hour or so. The autism means that fewer interruptions are better than lots. They had an awful night with all the coughing last night, and have had a fairly high temp today. But have trounced me thrice over at m0n0poly deal Uno (our own version of monop deal plus some of the Uno cards thrown in there for added spice!!!)
A week ago, dh was talking gleefully about going round the supermarkets tomorrow afternoon/evening to search out some bargains. Somehow, I feel he's gone off the idea a little...

  • I slept super soundly last night. Only this morning I found out that pip had been coughing until 2 am and dh had been in to them twice. At 5am the smoke alarm beeped for low battery. I only woke at 9 when dh's phone biddled with a text! So I'm letting pip sleep still as they're not coughing so it'll do them good.

I let pip sleep until about 11.30 as they weren't coughing. And they are better for it. In fact, they've been up and about a bit this afternoon which bodes well.
Dh did go for a gander at aldee and said that it wasn't too busy. It satisfied his need to shop and we have eggs, flowers, milk...
I'm sure I'll be on here tomorrow, but just in case, let me wish everyone who reads this a joyful next few days ❤️🌲🎄🎆.
And WSM is back on Monday. Whoop, whoop!!!
