Two weeks to go til half term, apple dear.  Take very good care of you right now.
Have you got anything lovely planned?
Sounds like a pants day all round, and then worrying how dc will react, on top of a carp night's sleep.

Dc actually was ok. A big relief. School threw quite a lot at them, and it's always more stressful when they've had a day off, but they coped brilliantly. And with the youth stuff too. We now talk through each day, so did that in the car on the way home. It's about 25 mins, so plenty of time. And they are now in bed, so I can switch off from being on duty. (Unless of course they can't sleep or have had dreams or stomach cramps or...)
During half term, dh is covering the caretaking for 3 days. We're not going away anywhere as dc needs time to decompress. We've 3 bouldering sessions booked though, so a big tick for physical activity. Well, for dc anyway. I'll keep heading to the gym as dh prob won't start until 8 so I can get there and back by then if I get up early. Big sis talked about visiting but dc can't face another person in the house, or even big sis staying with friends locally and just popping in.
We have a cousin's zoom get together at the weekend, courtesy of big sis's organisational skills and a cousin's zoom account. It's kind of in honour of mum, who turns 90 on Mon. And there's another source of guilt. Not seeing mum. Not having a clue what to send her other than flowers. Though I barely dared plan anything in case she fell ill...
4 more working days. Plus a big detention for today's little s h i t e s at lunchtime tomorrow. It is a long time since I have had to put up with that behaviour and punish it. I think I need to rope in some support for the 30 mins. Usually, a detention is more low key with me, but this is big. And I teach them straight after...

Detention, icy calm vibes for you.

Interesting that DC's assessment was in person. DD2 just had hers and it was online. Thanks for the book suggestion. xxx

The end of the sch day was just s h i t e today. Gave me a belting headache and caused several eruptions of tears. Once the pupils had left the building. And that was even after the dep head and head of year had been in.
    So I feel rubbish.
And dh said the bus journey to the youth group was rubbish - their bus didn't move for 15 mins while 2 other buses with the same number went past. So dc won't be doing too well when I go and collect them...
I'm overwhelmed. Have been all day. I slept poorly with a gazillion things whizzing round my head. Anyone else plan an assembly in the night? When they don't even ever run an assembly!!!! No? Just me, then!
2 IBU, 2 packets of s+v crisps, a mini bout of exercise with a stretchy band, and consciously trying to breath and relax is all helping a bit.
Better to plan an assembly when you're not taking one than to be taking one when you've not planned it.

    Ask me how I know!!

I am mightily relieved that my paid working week is done.
There must be something in the air cos so much stuff was kicking off today. Fortunately, I wasn't involved in much of it. Phew.

I am also mightily relieved that dc went into school this morning. It was touch and go in the car, but I had to drop off something at reception and as we walked up to cross the road, a friend arrived, all chirpy and raving about the sch production, which perked dc up no end. Phew.
I've learned NOT to bother trying to go to liddle on a Fri morning at about 9am. Chocka, no parking. Not worth the effort.
Dh went out with a friend this morning, so I've had some lovely time alone. A good soak and a scrub. Sch work (boo. But needs doing...) The opening ceremony in the background.

I watched some of the opening ceremony, I love those snowflakes :)

I was thinking of you this morning - Lidl ties with Waitrose as being the most eco-friendly supermarkets in the country!

Biathlon in the background. I really enjoyed cross-country skiing the one time I did it, about 9 years ago, in the Canadian Rockies. Much preferred it over downhill where I could neither turn well, nor stop... And my only experience of shooting was about 17 years ago out in Texas on mil + her dh's ranch. No cows were hit in error B)
I've also watched some of the speed skating. They are just soooo smooth! I'm not quite at their standard... :D I'm still suffering from when I went splat on the ice 3 weeks ago...
I love how they have snowflakes falling on the names when athletes are introduced.
Today we have not gone bouldering. We went to dc's sch production last night, and it was awesome. Such a lovely night. But late. And lots of stimulation. And the storyline of Calamity Jane with its twists and turns was almost too much for dc. So they needed to just keep sleeping this morning. They have had breakfast in bed and are currently playing subway surf and listening to radio 2. They are content.
I went to the gym once I reallised bouldering wasn't happening. A short, sharp, intense session (still no squats, lunges, jumping... pesky knees) after a super quick whizz around liddle. And home for 9 so dh could go out to do the PA for a memorial service.
It is a day of laundry and I have attempted to find the hole in the grass for the rotary airer. There are 2 holes out there cos of when we had the climbing frame, but I can only find one, despite much scrabbling around in the cold grass. So it is up, and although it is not in the ideal location for getting any sun, it'll blow about for a bit.

I often think we forget how exhausting school can be, even for teenagers (or especially for teenagers).
