Well bought, that woman!2023: the year I get to buy a car2

So I had a search for what to do with all those satsumas, and a version of orange curd seemed ideal to use up a large proportion of them. Having never even made lemon curd, it was all new to me, but it was a foolproof recipe and I am now the proud creator of 2 smallish jars of the stuff.
However, I must say that it only used 7 satsumas - the recipe was for blood oranges and the author said she got 100mils of juice, so I kept squeezing until reaching that amount.
There is also a lemon loaf cake and 4 potatoes baking in the oven.Sunday morning baking mojo paid a visit!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3 -
You could make an orange loaf cake too. Maybe one for another day?I have a lemon drizzle traybake on the cards this morning for the lunchboxes and I made Nadiya's mango lassi overnight oats yesterday which seems to have gone down well with 5 of us (not seen #6 yet).Have a lovely day.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I had some easy peel satsumas/mandarins last year, going cheap so I picked them up - and as well as eating them, I cut off the skin and dried it in the oven on a very low heat. Then this year, I used it in my home made mincemeat - I could really tell the difference, extra tanginess all round2023: the year I get to buy a car4

I did keep about half of the skins,to eat the bits left inside, and they were super sweet. Yummy. I'll try drying them next time - thanks! So the satsuma curd is scrumptious - not as thick as I'd expected, but delicious. And dd likes the cake ( topped with lemony fondant icing!). Success. And the baked potatoes did our tea.Dd and I met her friend + friend's mum for a good walk. We did over 3 miles; not sure what the girls did as they did a little skateboarding first.Tomorrow will be a shock. I have regularly been up at 6am. But it has been almost 3 months since I then had to leave the house soon after 7. In a presentable state! The way it falls, though, I'm only allocated to kiddiewatch period 3 and I'm not due to teach until period 4, which is a free, and then I have y11 all afternoon, so it's a great way to start.
Breaks me back in gently!
But then there is a meeting after work that starts too early for me to rush home and do from here - shame!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3 -
Best of luck tomorrow, apple - as you're kind of saying, there's a big difference between being up and being ready to go out and be fully compos mentis! I hope the day goes really well, for you and DD.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

I am up!Washed, yoga-ed, in the middle of eating my breakfast, coffee made and in a flask, clothes all ready to wear (But a bit tight so may change - why can't we wear pyjamas to work...?) Dd wants waking in 4 mins so she can get up and say good bye to me. There will no doubt be tears... And there is no doubt a frost to slow down my speedy getaway...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Well, there were no tears - more a sad recognition that I just had to goBut I had a lovely day. The y9s got through their testing super quickly and were ready for a lesson I wasn't expecting to teach! So we did a mega game of bingo and then a French numbers kahoot. Success! And my afternoon y11s were just their usual delightful selves. To cap it all, I arranged with another teacher to have my y11s for the last 10 mins so I could leg it home for the after-school meeting and do it online from here. So glad I did that, as the usual suspect who is always right, who interrupts by apologising for interrupting instead of waiting their turn, and who is loud and rude was in fine fettle. Sigh. But being at home meant that I could detach myself from it slightly...And today, I have discovered that the gf schar breadsticks packaging is fully recyclable. Along with their pretzels. They are both a staple of dd's diet so i t is really good to have realised that.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

That sounds like it ended up being a really good day! Very pleased for you2023: the year I get to buy a car3

I was overly cautious re the buses today, and was at work by 7.25! But it was a beautifully smooth and stress free journey, so it was well worth it. Coming home, I alternated jogging and running to get back to the bus stop (1.2m) and managed to catch the bus that brings me mostly home - to just a mile away. Dd/dh had messaged me to offer to collect me, so I was chauffeured home for the last few mins.Dh had had the car today, for dd to get to the orthodontist and back to school in time for her counselling session.School was good, got some important decisions made. Also got accused of backstabbing by someone who I'd cc'd in an email about not leaving the class windows open overnight. Not quite sure how openly including them in the email, along with a personal note to them saying that I thought it might be them, but it might not be, constitutes stabbing in the back. But there you go. Someone to keep away from for a while...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3
