Up today at 5.30 cos I couldn't sleep. Ugh. The alarm was set for 6.02, for an early gym session, but once I was awake at 5.11 after a rather weird dream, I just couldn't settle back.So I have made myself a coffee, stretched and had a mosey on the pc.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Are you out of sync from the clocks changing? I've had a few early wakings this week where I haven't settled back and I'm sure it's where I'm still adjusting to the hour change - I'm just glad it's half term!

Yoda t shirts and dinosaur trains! I love it
Sympathies on the out of sync sleeping though - I kind of always have that

I did an awesome gym session.
Got dd up and fed.We both did school work. (I still have much prep to do for y12, but they are doing an assessment for the first week back, so I do have enough time, I hope!)Then we went out to 0xfam - didn't find the calendar we wanted, but did get a m00min one instead for step dd2, some handmade soaps, some shampoo, and books for dd.BHF gave us a dino-making kit for gs1's bday in May (go me, planning ahead!) And a Lunnon tote bag for step dil.Dd pointed out that people in the shops just don't keep their distance from her. And it really makes her uncomfortable. I noticed that they weren't keeping their distance from me either. They seem to think that a mask means they can cosy up to us...

Oh yes, I so agree with the distancing. I shop for three households on Thursday and I was late leaving the house this week, the local small town was horrendous. A lot of grandparents and children. No wonder we're in Tier three.2

Hey peb - thanks for commenting! Dd was really quite distressed by it, feeling ignored + not important cos she's not a grown up.

November needs to be different. I've gotten quite lax in my ways and need to rein almost everything in! Yikes! The pension shenanigans will not be sorted quickly, so saving must start asap. Which means knowing where my money goes... And rather than having a vague budget (more one where I note down what has been spent, rather than keep within a set amount - oops) I need to be more thrifty and think about what I'm doing...It is a month with no school holidays in it, with every increasing dark starts and finishes, and generally grotty weather.I work all of Mon and Weds, and most of Thurs. Dd has evening 'events' on a Mon, Weds and sometimes a Fri too. Sat = dance in the middle of the day. Sun now = church - I'd prob not go every week, myself, but dh will be doing the PA a lot, and I expect dd will want to go to youth as much as possible.I want to continue with the exercise I've been doing - home and gym (need 12+ gym visits per month for me to feel I'm getting my money's worth!)Cmas is getting prepped, present-wise. But to prep, it requires going out and about and visiting shopping emporia... But to send people gifts and not just money usually does involve leaving the house at some point...!'Nuff wittering. For now...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Well, things have changed somewhat...But in other ways, they haven't...We all had church today. Dh did PA; dd did youth; I did kids klub. And that's it now, until Dec (at the earliest)!Gyms will close so I'll be working out at home again and dd 's swim clsses will stop. That'll save me some money! I started a different set of routines this morning - one that looks deceptively simple but took me 22 mins of effort. But I have my job, as does dh; and dd has school. We have each other. Life, really, is good.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

That's what matters, in reality, you're right, apple. I don't envy you trying to juggle virus issues with the need to nurture a young teenager and prepare a family Christmas. Hope you're okay.

We've not yet had to send a year group home - phew! In fact, I think that whole year groups being at home must be the easy(er) part. It's the teaching-those-in-the-room-as-well-as-those-isolating-at-home-at-the-same-time that must be truly overwhelming.I'm v glad schools are still open, for the sake of the mental health of the kids. I do wish 'they' would make a decision on next year's exams - for example, I have to assess the speaking element of the exam now, but as yet have no criteria to measure it against. Unless you count 'pass/merit/distinction' as criteria... And will the exams even run? Cause if not, we need to know so that we can be doing 'coursework'-y types of things and allocate the correct grades... Just keep algorithms out of it please! Unless they are peer-approved/tested by people who know about exams...So, dd is pottering on, each day is different with its different challenges. Her school are dealing with the ever-changing situation in such a great way.As for cmas, well, we're usually a very quiet bunch and slob around the house. So I don't think we'll notice too much of a difference this year!!Today I found a £1 coin in the road. I had to stop and stare at it to be sure that it wasn't a metal bottle cap trying to trick me! And then wait for traffic to go by so that I could claim it. I wasn't going to walk on by and let someone else discover it...I also dug up our crop of potatoes - about 1 1/2 mixing bowls' worth - which impressed dh! And cut down most of the rasp canes, to take to the tip when I went to the gym (gotta get those sessions in before midnight tomorrow...) I don't know if the tips will stay open? And there's still plenty to cut back and sort out..NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2
