Apple muncher's number crunching

Had another good gym session at 7 am this morning. It must be at leat 12 degrees cooler outside than of late - phew! Though I still had the back door open all day, much to dh's disgust!Dd and I took some bits to the local ch shop this morning, and also acquired a few little bits. We dropped off 2 books at the library collection box - I only took 2 just in case the box was full, and shopped in sainz. It was much much busier than of late, which was rather disconcerting. But they had dd's gf/df breadsticks in stock - yay! - saving us a drive to another branch in the next week or so.We heard yesterday that dh's mum has passed away. It wasn't totally unexpected; but it is unexpected, if that makes sense. She had moved to a new care home - more set up for blind people - in May, I think. She'd rung us just before the move, and said she'd not be able to get a phone line installed for a few weeks as she had to quarantine. Then things got worse in Texas, so the phone didn't happen. She died peacefully though, which is always a blessing.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Thanks, guys. Much appreciated x It kind of doesn't feel real, as she was just so far away.Today I did a tough workout first thing, and then went swimming with dd and covered half a mile. All by 11am. Ooph. Not doing much for the rest of the day...Still sorting through the lost property box stuff and trying to pass it on where I can. But there's only so many of the 45+ cardis and jumpers that the neighbours want/need...So pleased that we went away when we did - before the heatwave and before the subsequent rain.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

There's going to be a multi-media campaign to persuade parents that it is indeed safe to send their offspring back to school. Why not spend that money instead on helping those pupils who have fallen behind to catch up?As a teacher I am supposedly being encouraged to walk or cycle to work. Nope. No-one's said anything to me, apart from the standard plea not to use public transport...like every one else. The buses here will be overwhelmed when term starts again. They are often packed when dd gets the bus at 7.30am. Hmmm, maybe there'll be a 'discovery' that it is now safe to fill buses/trains/trams to capacity just before term commences...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Yes @apple_muncher like when the quarantine for France was announced right after the minister came back from Calais. Funny how changes in the rules seem to fit so nicely with what the government wants (or Johnson's family and friends need)Choose kind3

I got up early and have been to the gym and had a meaningful workout.Dh is off at work so one less body in the house.Dd has done some school work and also played out and got drenched. She is now outside again.I have picked the currently-ripe-rasps and they are scrummy.I have prepped my y11s up to Cmas, allowing some slack. And printed 1 copy of the worksheets I plan to use, to make photocopying much simpler at work (just copy, rather than print + copy) as there will be limited room for bodies in the staffroom.Off to sit in a friend's garden later - hope the rain stays away...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Oooh, look: a bloomin' great U-turn... How unexpected...And also, how relieved must the 1000s of GCSE pupils feel. And head teachers. And exams officers. And appeals people - hopefully they;ll just have the usual number now...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Shambles is the right word. Such a shame to have so many students messed about with. It's a bad enough time of year anyway, without this rollercoaster of decisions and changes...
