'The UK government is saying today that there's little evidence of coronavirus being transmitted in schools.'Could that possibly be because schools have basically been closed since late March...??? All the research that's been done/is being done is working with unusual parameters and is all hypothetical therefore...The PM visited a school 'on Monday' (which Monday???) in East London. How nice for him to have it all to himself. Blimmin' stoopid PR stunt, to visit a school with no pupils in it...Also, everyone is a school can 'immediately have access to testing' when they are showing symptoms. But transmission happens before obvious symptoms. So waiting to show symptoms means that transmission can happen for a few days... Why not test us all on a weekly basis? How well can social distancing be managed at school? As well as the space allows...Even is an area is under local lockdown, then pupils must still go to school. Not reassuring when they talk about all pupils returning in Sept, even those in Manchester and Leicester - Leicester school open in August, d'oh. Shows how much 'they' really know about what they're talking about, eh?Sigh...

I just want to say, 'yay!!' to the scots for apologising re the grades fiasco, and then sorting it out and changing them. What a precedent has now been set for the English system...Especially the GCSEs, which are only in their 3rd year of the current specification. So there is no trend of results, just 2 years of data, the first one of which was 'amended/modified' to take account of it being the 1st year of the new exams...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Well, at least govt have publicly made a mess of awarding results now, before the results distribution day. I do feel for those responsible for getting grades loaded on to the system and out to centres - they must be having a nightmare...I took myself to the gym for 7am and had a hard workout, which was good to do. And I spent much of the afternoon in the paddling pool - grateful for clouds coming and going, and some breezes.Dd has had another book clear out - we have a lot of books to take to 0xfam now.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

I do hope that the same change is applied to GCSE results...

I've noticed that a lot about the Scottish government in general, apple - they speak in sentences that can be understood, without a million subordinate clauses, and they say what they mean. Such a lesson could be learned from them!

A BBC 'infographic' (isn't that just a graph?) shows that about 39% of A level results were downgraded. And about 59% of grades were not changed. And about 3% were raised.' Moderation' has been applied. Ummm, doesn't moderation result in about an equal number of grades going up as well as down?? It does NOT seek to reduce a grade. It is also stated that this year shows the highest ever level (27.9%) of A* and As, up from 27% in 2011. 2011 had a totally different exam specification- they have since been changed, remember??? You cannot compare apples and pears, I believe. Unless it works to make the stats look headline-y...But you can appeal, of course. And just WHO will fund that?? And who will judge the appeal???Oh heck.Just 1 week until the GCSE results...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3
