Thank you for my birthday wishes.
It was a day of unusual sociability and fair wore me out!
Back to the grindstone today - I have set 2 classes  a written test that I have to mark, so I'll be busy trying to squint at blurry photos and deciphering their French...!

I read an interesting article written in answer to the question " will this ever go away" (I think). The response was that no, the virus will always be here, but by delaying/minimising our contact with it, then we give the health experts time to learn about it, to improve testing and treatment, develop stuff that needs developing (you can tell I'm not a scientist!!). And fewer of us end up in ICUs.
I also saw an old photo of a packed House of Commons with the caption of 'when the HoC is this full again, then it is safe to send your kids to school' .

Social distancing 'remains critical' and we can currently go outside and meet up with one other person if we don't talk face to face but sideways on.
But teachers will be fine, facing 15 different families represented in their room, for extended periods of time... yeah, right.
We know the kiddies / teens are not highly likely to fall ill. But we don't know how big a carrier risk they are. Imagine having to trace it if a teacher fell ill...
    Sigh.

However, I'm not fretting about it, so apologies if the above sounds like it - just putting some thoughts down. I'm sort of liking teaching online and giving pupils the one-on-one feedback for their work. I've had some fantastic work from kids and love telling them to wear their smug face because their work is so good.

Dd has done her first day of exams and survived. More to come tomorrow then a break over the weekend, which is really thoughtful planning from the school.
Watched some St Trinians - always love the anarchy of it!
1559. That is the number in the 'serious/critical' columnfor the UK. It has not changed for several days, yet several hundred people have died each day... Strange...
Someone has let the cmas elves out early this year, as they are already making my clothes tighter...

'I can almost guarantee that one child won't want to eat the lunch of another'. Hmmmm. Yeah, right...
'It was unlikely that one child would catch corona virus off another simply by running past them'. But that sooo goes against allllll the principles of social distancing, of droplets staying in the air, of why joggers were told to keep 10m apart. And if they run past each other, they may also touch each other...
Just a bit of devil's advocate...
Dd doesn't want to go back. I'll go back when I'm told to. And with dh also working in a school (albeit mostly after people have left), having us then in 3 different educational establishments might be silly... Bah, just keep washing our hands for now...

If good ventilation is a requirement, then schools would need to have all internal doors open. What about the H&S side of fire regs...?
You can't teach senior sch kids in a bubble of 5...

My church runs a food bank. Yesterday we were given an unexpected 3000 extra meals that need eating by tomorrow! So a message went out inviting us all to take some for people we know. The hub is a good 30mins drive away, but a friend went to get 100 meals and waited by church with them, which is 15-20mins instead. So I ended upwith 6 for neighbours on one side and 8 for the others, along with 8 pints of milk.  Yay!
Used up a very old (2016) gf bread mix today - half in bread, the rest made cakes. They rose soooo much, they are awesome! And I am wearing my smug face :)

Pesky pigeon pose. Have pulled my bad ankle  moving into that particular stretch. Harumph. It aches a fair amount, but nothing worse.
Made pizza for lunch, so one more pack of (4 years) OOD mix used up. :) OOD always makes me think of those creatures from a series of Dr Who, I think.
Dd has done some revision and is now out tree climbing. I have put several credits and positive comments on the  pupil system and tomorrow I will email several parents about their wonderful offspring and how impressive they are.
I will go back to physical work when I am told to. I don't expect all my pupils to be there so will simply make it work for them and for me. Like I'm doing now!
I have tried to clean the dining room walls. Cos they are mucky. Well, now they are smeary mucky. Tried 2x washing up liquid. Some cilit bang stuff. Some ecover stuff. A mix of wul and white vinegar. Still all smeary and mucky... Next time it'll have to be the sugar soap...And the whole lot may require a repaint. In fact, the whole house may require that... :open_mouth:
Do I wait until we have had the rads + boiler done, or just crack on with it...? Methinks I should crack on with  it whilst I have the impetus...

I have found some sugar soap, but done nothing more than try it on a small part of wall. But at least it worked...
Did an early morning walk, which was good.
Dd has finished her exams. Phew.
Dh has had some extra work so he is not up to (too much) mischief.
Dd + I have inflated the paddling pool and put about 3 buckets of water in it - partly to start warming up and partly so that it doesn't blow away.

Tomorrow I have quite a busy day. Well, it's a busy day for lockdown. Workout + shower; get dd up and check what her school day is (her German teacher said that their speaking test - due to be tomorrow - will be on another day as they have whole school activities, but dd has no other info... ); ms meet a parent; send out work; do the pm slot with the kw kiddies; sort out the evidence for my gcse grades; get to liddle (on the way home); use the paddling pool...
