Can't believe how much I did yesterday
Dd was quite upset by what the orthodontist says she needs doing - jaw alignment, tooth extraction, braces, retainer for life... Surgery when she's an adult was even mentioned. For goodness sake - she's a child!!! And we'd gone expecting braces. No inkling of anything else being needed. Though we were blessed at the end to see the manager (who'd done our initial meeting when we arrived) so were able to put some questions to her that had occurred to us. And she phrased it in a much better way for dd to accept and not be scared of.
However, we do qualify for free treatment, which is just as well...
So today we are off to bham. I'll have quite a few items of clothing for mum, plus her cmas presents, plus all of dd's food for 4 meals. The train times don't seem to have changed for our route, which simplifies it in my head.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hope you and dd have a lovely visit to your mum
The dentist sounds awful! I'm sorry dd heard all that2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thank you karma. The orthodontist had the 'emotional intelligence/range of a teaspoon' (if I'm quoting Hermione correctly). We were just bombarded with what 'had' to be done. I mean, surgery!!!
Dd and I are now all snug, and ensconsed in the hotel. We spent a while with mum and I sewed poppers on the fleecy duffel coat and name tags in the coat + 3 pairs of trousers and took up 1 of the pairs of trousers. She reacted positively to them all, hence the sewing. We tend not to name things until we've had a chance to gauge her reaction to them...
Mum wasn't having a good day - couldn't remember dd's name, but also talked about me in the 3rd person, and was struggling a bit to make the connection that her husband was also my dad.
I've had a bit of a find in the local ch shops. A lovely grey smart jacket, a vibrant pink exercise top and a pair of stretchy jeans (not for public viewing, but will do for around the house), all for £3.
Zwow #12 has been adapted and completed.

We were back home for lunch - it was a great walk-off-one-train-and-walk-onto-another all the way
. And we missed all the grotty weather.
I have written -and posted - all except for 2 cards, so am feeling quite smug.
Dh is out yet again with PA stuff. And the guy on the rota for Sun has cried off - says that he thinks he's got a cracked rib or two from coughing. What...??? Is that possible?? And to pull out 3 full days beforehand...?? So it'll fall on dh to cover it himself.
So I've suggested to dh that he take Jan off to recover, esp as that is when dd gets the first stage of her braces started, and I have my op... Dd is especially miffed at not seeing much of her dad at the mo... and she recognises that in a year or two, she'll not be so bothered by it. But she is bothered now.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
The thingy has matured and produced some pennies. The mortgage is currently down to about two thousand and something. :T Not sure why dh didn't pay it all off, but this'll do for now
.
Have quite a list for tomorrow:
-tip run - gdn waste, ragbag, other gubbins
-bag to SA
-pot of coins to NWest
-lidl (us; neighbour; friend)
-aldi - veg??
-wrap presents
-dd to youth?
-write last 2 cards - and post them...
-washing x2
That's it for now. I'll prob end up doing a totally different list!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

I woke up naturally, around 8am. So did a kettlebell workout and then went straight to aldee. Boy did I get a huuuge amount for £40! 2 hampers for friends who need them and a few quid on things for us.
Got home and divvied up the shopping. Then dh and I loaded the car and went to the tip in the wet and got thoroughly mucky.
Penty of presents have been wrapped and dh is even wrapping gifts for his PA team!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Still not written those 2 cards - they need a letter/long note inside them, which is what is putting me off. My hands aren't happy at the mo - from writing several cards with notes the other day, and mostly from shifting stuff around to the tip today. Dh has hurt his back so he could not do very much - apart from supervising, a role he relished....
Took the hamper and presents round to next door and they were very happy. Which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I have a couple of bags of food to take to a friend tonight (hopefully), plus a mini hamper of presents for another friend - but from now on, we're just going to take each other out for a coffee instead.
Tomorrow I hope to finally get rid of the rags... and a bag or 2 to the Sally Army would be good. Plus a liddle shop for items only available there. And washing - don't think we have anything white that is clean left...
Dd is off out to Youth tonight. It's not a long session, so coming back home in the traffic and then heading out again is plain daft. hence the plan to drop off stuff to a friend who lives quite near the church. And if that falls through, I'll just sit at the back with my cards to write...:rotfl:.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I forgot the cards...:rotfl:.
2x washing done and hung up everywhere to dry. 2 bags to the SA and just 1 book purchased there. A bag of mixed lego and a few books from demelza. Then a liddle shop for items only available there. Then on to sainz to use a voucher, the newsagent to get our 'cmas magazines' for weds and post a small parcel to a cousin, and then a library visit. And finally, we popped to see a friend and drop of their box of presents.
And home for lunch!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
The days are getting longer again.
Did a (very amended) version of Zuzka's Silent Killer workout. It was originally called 'Silent but Deadly' until some of her British followers pointed out what it means... :rotfl: My hands are extremely feeble and achey in various joints, so I just did a bodyweight version that didn't use hands at all.
Dd has been in the garden taking photos, so she's had extra fresh air. Now we can stay in with all the fairy lights. (And WSM)NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
