Dd and I walked up to sch this morning, which was lovely. We opted not to get the bus and chatted non-stop. The reason for walking was to look at posters for the lights switch-on, to double-check that Santa was indeed coming.
I then did an aldee shop and got a fair amount of choc (!) as I plan to give several of the small bars wrapped in ribbon again, and dd likes the idea of making slabs for her friends. So I bought choc at the cheaper end of the price range plus choc drops + caramel fudge bits + honeycomb bits to decorate them.
I also got the gf/df sponge puds -thanks to whoever told me about them - for me and dd on cmas day.
Dd trotted home from sch and bizarrely opted to finish her english poem before doing anything else! We caught the bus up to the lights, got a good viewpoint and waited for Santa to arrive. I must admit that the lights are pretty good. And Santa's flashing reindeer looks exactly the same as last year!
Then we went to aldee to look for fairy lights for dd's room and had a good ol' mooch. A top for gs, lights for dd, a snood/neckwarmer thingy each for dd and me (in fact, they were the only 2 left on the shelf!) and some of their nakd-style salted caramel bars for dd to try. And she enjoyed them - yay!
Tomorrow is the fair. I measured out the table size and tried a layout. Boy, is it small. Esp when dd wants one third of it...
Managed bunny slope workout #5 and have done plenty of walking, but am still glad that I didn't travel to see mum.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
The fair is all done and dusted. Such a serene pta group, the likes of which I have never encountered before.
Got my teeny tiny table and set up. Then when 3 tables around me didn't turn up, 3 of us spread out our wares - with permission of course.
Sales were slow but consistent. I'm low priced and I don't think anyone spent much over £3 at once, but I made it to about £80. Nice! I remembered to take both before and after photos, so I can see what sold and replace it for a fortnight's time. Maybe.
Dd sold some bits too, and made £7.50.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Apple, thats a great total to reach, well done! Sounds like it was a really good day.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Although I was there for about 6 hours (dh and dd came along then dh took dd to dance and brought her back and went home for a bit before coming back to collect us) it was quite relaxed. But I have been tired out today, and talking as little as possible. Dd has also been unusually quiet!
Most of the household slept until 8.30 but dh's phone buzzes twice at 6.20, which was enough to switch my brain into pestering me to get up. I only resisted until 6.50. Ugh.
Anyhow, Barnwood Builders is really rather interesting! And I needlefelted several blank bodies, to turn into penguins, owls or robins at some point.

I have set myself a Quest for the next 6 weeks, which takes me to the first day of next term. It was inspired by NerdFitness which is my latest binge-read website
.
Basically, it is to lose weight and get stronger. (Nowt new there, then!) But the lose weight bit involves drinking loads of water, keeping sugar-free and generally eating protein + produce at each meal. The get stronger bit involves good posture, Zuzana and NF workouts and yoga - I aim to do some exercise every day but not necesarily a 'workout'.
And as a side life quest, I shall continue to meditate and do my PF stretches every day.
Why now? Well, 3 weeks today is when I break up. That means 3 more mondays -my full day - one of which I have hosp appt for and will miss the morning, another is the last mon of term and therefore dedicated to cmas stuff. So it does rather feel like each day is a part-time day. And has time. Cmas is not usually a time of overeating here, especially if we don't buy it in the first place!
Can you tell I'm feeling better :rotfl:?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Good, glad to hear it! That sounds really good, that fitness plan, and unusually enough, a good time of year to do it2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Today was a day of mock orals. It all went smoothly and I was impressed with the pupils' effort and their give-it-a-go-ness. It's a great opportunity to have a quick, positive chat with them too.
Once home, I did some sch prep for when I have my hosp appt, to make the pupils work: a tough-ish worksheet followed by wordy games and pictures as a reward. Hope it works...
Day 2 of The Quest has been successfully completed :T.
I am trying to needlefelt a mini sonic screwdriver . So long as it is labelled then the recipient should know what it is...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
That's very detailed needlefelting! You've really taken to it, its great when something new sparks you like that2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I'm going for the simple squint-and-think-of-a-sonic-screwdriver look!
This morning I have taken dd to school, along with a bag of items for Sally Army gifts and some not-too-bad-condition clothing for a collection; bumped into a mum I knew vaguely from when our kids overlapped at primary school and who I seem to bump into all over the place now; bought dbil a star warz tshirt from aldee; watched some WSM and needlefelted some acorn snowmen; wrapped all the presents for big sis, bil and niece (+ her bf); wrapped all the presents for sdd1 and her dh and ds; done bunny slope workout #8 + 50 deadlifts with my 12k KB; hung up 2 washes.
I bought dd an aldee cmas jumper yesterday - the one with all the carrots on - and it looks great! I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of it.
There is a Fred + Ginger film on the telly soon, so I will keep on needlefelting...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
It is the end of november. How did that happen?!
It has been a month of many and varied charity donations, which has been good. I've made it to 17 nsds, I think. Some cmas prep has been done, and ideas written down for others (and I really need inspiration for some other others!). Our health has collectively improved from a very lurgified start of the month to nearly normal.
Family has figured high this month - but unfortunately not mum, as I've been too poorly to travel to see her. Big sis is staying for her 2nd visit of the month and we have her dd tonight too. My cousin dropped in after he had a localish interview - and he got the job - yay! And today we have had a cousins' reunion - all 8 of us + families - and gone through much of our family tree that we all share.
Dh and I have realised how little we like to drive in the dark. It was quite a drive to my cousin's house today so dh drove there and I did the return. We would both like a day at home tomorrow, to recover!
Need to:
-crack on with needlefelting -my sch fair is this Fri. Eek.
-actually write and post some cmas cards this year
-get inspired for the other othersNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
