Ya boo hiss to noisy neighbours...both very late last night and rather early this morning.

But it meant that we were up early, so I did a version of Silent Killer workout. Then we were out by 8am to go and climb a big rock before the temp rose (forecast to reach 33C). The tailwind helped us up - dd was running, a la Kate Bush! The wind at the top was soo strong - about 50mph, and dd kept laying down to avoid being blown away...

It's certainly a place we want to return to before we leave as there are others walks to do (as well as climb up again.)

I feel your pain on noisy neighbours - hope it's better tonight. Silent Killer workout sounded so fascinating I had to google it - it's still fascinating :)

Have a lovely day - relaxing during the hottest part? Then roaming, yay :)

We had no noisy neighbours last night - yay! Tho we are still not sleeping through - heat, mostly. We even put the aircon on for a bit in the night, which meant we slept.

However, today is cloudy and quite a bit cooler, so we plan to potter around the town and be tourists.

Karma - now that you know the silent killer workout, I feel the need to add that I didn't do it for the full time (did 35 secs, not 50) and I also didn't use weights (cos I have none here). And I definitely do not have that body...!

Got a much better night's sleep last night, so was waking up by 6.30. I did 200 reps of the 500 rep w/o - took me about 15 mins and was just enough!

We visited wallymart today - dh really wanted to go - and it was much nicer than HEB. Not nearly so overwhelming to my senses. Dh is quite insistent that we buy ourselves something as a memento of our visit, but we all draw the line at yee-ha-texan-y things... Dh got some jeans; dd got a dress + tee-shirt; I got 2 cheap vest tops. To be honest, I really prefer the thrift store top I found the other day.

Then we popped to a g00dwill thrift store and all found it overpriced so didn't stay long. And the dollar store yielded up a book for dd.

All this was only about 90 mins, but I really didn't want to go in another shop...!

We took MIL out for lunch. She uses a walker (calls him Johnie!!), has severe osteoarthritis and is legally blind. So there's no danger of her wandering off :rotfl:. We went to a pizza place that does gf and you can build your own pizza. Deeeelicious! Then us girls all decided to go to the loo. Must've taken us over 20 mins: to the back of the store, down 6 uneven steps, wiggling around tables, over cobbles, through a fairly narrow doorway and then into the loo, which was fortunately big enough for MIL, Johnie and me), then out and up a slope of uneven cobbles wiggling between tables, to get to the sidewalk. And although we had managed to park right in font of the pizza place, the step down to the road was rather large.

We returned a full-tummied but tired out old lady to her home!

It has still been hot today and the early chill had dissippated by about noon. Depending on which forecast you look at, we may have storms tomorrow... But we did sit out in the sun today for a bit - while the shadow was on our bodies but our legs had a little direct sun.

Tomorrow is either go to another state park for a walk in the morning and then 'do' a museum or 2 after lunch, or vice versa if the weather so dictates.

I can understand wanting to go to a Walmart for the experience, apple :) I'm glad it seemed good. And omg, a build-your-own gf pizza! Now thats my idea of heaven. I'm surprised the loos weren't more accessible, Texas being what it is ... Hope you get a good view of the lightning bolts (and that they're quite far away :) ).
