Even smugger face is on today - the funds from the house sale have arrived in my bank. And tomorrow dh and I need to discuss where to move it to and what to do with it. Should be fun!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

So a new month starts. And so does a new turtle challenge:
Hello fellow turtles :hello: and welcome to NST September - the Sunshine Challenge.
Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on?
Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more.
NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses.
Spread some sunshine- be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness
Healthy eating - up your fruit and veg intake, quit snacking between meals or choose healthier options. Crisps are my major downfall so I'm going to try and stop snacking on them this month.
Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do.
Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes.
Try to post every day if you can. The support from fellow turtles on this thread is invaluable and will spur you on to meet your goals
Who's up for the challenge?
And, of course, I have signed up. And added my own bit:
Simplicity of life
Extend kindness
Posture
Train hard
Eat mindfully
Meditation, Mental health
Be consistent: sleep, exercise, eating
Evaluate routines and activities
Remember other people, Remove the unnecessay, Rewards
And decided to take up the Primal Blueprint 21 day challenge as well as a 21 day Kettlebell challenge.
I have started well - ZCUT KB #5 with my 8k Kb took just 6m45 and the KB snatches took 2m21. All done in under 10 mins today.
Now to make a coffee and wake dh.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Thank you for the congratulations!
Bagged my first NSD of the month; did my KB challenge for day 2 (40 snatches); helped at kids klub; sorted out the very untidy kids klub cupboards (a workout in itself!); made a yummy tea; prepped my and dd's lunches for tomorrow; arranged where dd will go tomorrow; ate primally; did some sewing; mowed the front; dida (very) little amount of school work.
Am so expecting to get loads of schoolwork done tomorrow... We'll see...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Ha ha, unrealistic expectations re school work! I did get a fair amount done, but not the one piece that I really need to do...
And my bank will only allow a daily transfer of £20K. Shocking, eh :rotfl:?
Wrists aching so much from yesterday's cupboard sorting that I wore wrist supports to work. But I was definitely rockin' the look.
We have offered 2 cd players (from my parents' houses) to a friend for her kids and she is mega grateful, as they can have them for their main cmas present each. It is v humbling to realise how little some people have, and just how much we have.
A day off exercise - just as well, as a full day at work wipes me out. Back on it tomorrow. And back to my counsellor after a 4 or 5 week break.
Have done 3 days of no Jewel Pop on my tablet and I think it will free up quite a lot of time this month. Time that could be much better used.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
ZCUT KB #6 done and dusted.
KB challenge day 4 done.
Counsellor seen.
Got my sig on dd's saving's passbook, finally.
Got nec shopping.
2 loads of washing done and hung up.
Got dd to school with all her stuff (must remember to go and collect her in a few mins).
Another 20K transferred.
Tilly tidy approach applied to:
-paperwork for work (done most but need to see my report from last year for one section - and that report is on the system at work)
-sewing bunny clothes (somehow thought I'd get tehm all done in the hols, but I seem to have only done half!)
- knitting - currently policeman, with Hello k1tty, Santa, fireman and minion still to do...
- the washing up! (Ha ha - there was simply soooo much of it, somehow...)NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Great news about the house sale funds. Any update on uses?
Sounding very productive Apple x15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j
Progress not Perfection0 -
Have done my first lot of teaching, and survived. Tomorrow is prepped and I have done one class's lessons until half term.
Home for lunch, then decided to get my kb challenge done: 60 snatches with my 8K kb.
Dh has been to a sainz that requires a car, and spent nearly £50. Eek. But there was nothing on there that we didn't need - the local one is currently rubbish as regards gf/df, with the items we tend to buy being out of stock for weeks on end. So, to find a store that does stock them means we buy a lot of them!
I managed to do about 75 mins of school work this afternoon. So now I feel that I can relax and do more fun things for the rest of the day.
Earthie - we are going to give about 100k to a man to invest / play? with for us. And some to my sister as she looked after mum for a year, incurring some loss of income. We will have about 28k left. I think I wrote about what jobs needed doing a while ago, but can't remember them all now. Roof, gutters, fencing and windows will do for starters...
We also discussed paying off the mortgage, but may simply reduce it for now... I can't quite believe we have the money!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
