Dh has gone out to a meeting at church - a 35 min bus journey away.

Niece is arriving here later on - about 8.30 I think - and staying over. So dd'll go to bed late - she is happy!

Dh will go and open up at 6.30am tomorrow and I'll leave the house at 6.30am too. Dd has said that she is happy for her cousin to be the 'adult' in the house - even if she is asleep. Just need to tell niece that she will be in charge until dh returns, prob around 8am, so both girls may simply sleep through it all...!

I'll not be home until 6.30/7pm so unless niece stays another night, I'll only see her tonight. Boo. And of course, she may have plans and be up early tomorrow (:rotfl:) which would scupper dh's plan!

It is all too much for my little brain!

'Enjoy the days I don't go to work',eh? First one today and I have a huge list :rotfl:! A mix of jobs and nicer things but it could easily be double the length it is.

It has struck me that there is not enough natural daylight at 6.30am for me to happily cycle to work on a Mon. Though I start later on other days, so it may be possible. It's just my pesky hands not being able to grip v well. Hmmm. Maybe I should just go running instead!

Off to do something from my list that won't wake dd...

  • I love early morning runs in the dark. It took me many years to embrace the mornings (I'm talking 20+ years of running before I actually did one pre working hours!), But I like the quietness of the village and being able to see the sun coming up.

Mind you, as I currently have a fractured hip, sustained whilst training for a marathon, I'm not exactly digging my trainers out again anytime soon!

    Enjoy working through your list!!
  • I am very much a morning peson but Dh currently leaves the house at 6.15 for work, so a morning run would have to get me home before that. Yikes. Probably ain't gonna happen - I'm not that much of a morning person!

But I did play 'beat the bus' today. And I won :D. Afer seeing my counsellor, I usually walk up a whopper of a hill and catch a bus fom the top. Today I walked/jogged up the hill and just kept on going until I got home. 3.1 miles, 40 mins. Rather a silly distance, as I've not run since the end of May when I damaged my big toe (pesky ninja jump tucks, eh)...

How did you damage your hip bte? Get well soon.

Well done on the running home! I'm debating wether I could cycle to and from work again if I didn't need my car for work in the future. I could get placed in a school about 5 miles away . I used to do it but I'm five years older now ;)

My bike has started its hibernation early. In fact, it never really left it! We got it ready to use back in May, then I injured my toe. And now, as I said recently, it is too grey and murky and dim at 6.30 for me to feel confident out there. The roads are all busy at that time and there is no 'back road' route. I am quite excited about the running potential though...

That is surprisingly tricky to answer! But I think it is a 'no' for many and varied reasons. I also do not have a locker, or anywhere to store smelly kit apart from a teacher workroom. And I'd rather not be kicked out for smelling the place out!

My hands are still feeble, so there's no point cycling if I can't use the brakes effectively :rotfl:.

However, tomorrow I shall be running part of the way home, like I used to. I expect to manage 2 or 3 miles of the route, with a bus or two helping with the rest.

I would love to get to the level where I could just go and run 6 miles. But first I'll aim for 3 runs a week :D. Consistently. An see where I am in 4 weeks.

Am making the most of the mornings. Dh is up at 5.45 so I'm getting up just after 6, having some quiet time, doing some stretches, reading, and even some bunny sewing. All before dragging dd into the land of the conscious at 7.15. And when I get home, I'm doing a little more crafting and reading 'useful' books. I reckon that stopping playing jewel pop on my tablet has freed up a lot of time. I'm not at the Tim Ferriss level of a 4-hour work week. Yet...

I did run some of the way home today :T, about 2 1/4miles + 1 bus. I also ended up running 1/2 a mile this morning to the bus, when the app informed me it was 5 mins early. Eek!

Once home, I've not been fit for much. Oops. Running is supposed to invigorate and energise...

Tomorrow I am not running. No way.

Paid some more off the mortgage the other day. Yes, we're mortgage neutral, but the more of our savings we can use for Oz, the better.

Off for some more 4-hour work week reading...
