Love the going cold turkey..I could do the same with diaries as I spend a long time reading. I like to think it spurs me on, and it does, but theres a balance.
Hope the crispie cakes went down well. Much better than the norm!

:bdaycake: Happy birthday to my dear dd!
The snow has stayed with us, to celebrate her bday, and it has all frozen to boot. Twill be hairy for the drivers on our part of the estate, getting their cars out. Dh went in to the school for 6.30, to help clear the snow/ice, and put grit down. I think there is v little/no grit on the roads as it was pouring with rain yesterday before turning to snow, which would have washed it all away anyway. I think dd can wear thick socks over her tights, and wellies to get to school. It is the day where a family member can go in and spend 90 mins working with their child thismorning, so I shall be in my walking boots. We'll both need to remember our normal shoes!
Ooh, just heard the heating kick into life.

I think it is safe to announce that dd has had a good birthday! Many of her classmates made a fuss of her, and 2x wet play produced some cards and bday wishes. She chatted for over 20 mins with her big sis in Canada, and another 15+ with her auntie this evening.
School let them out a few mins early, and she did some sledging with a neighbour on some untouched snow.
I have done zcut cardio #9 and then went for a tiny 15min run in my new running shoes - a very steady run, given all the melted/refrozen ice and snow and wind.
Big sis has been cracking on hugely with 'getting stuff done'. She is awesome. I am up there next weekend.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Took dd to dance on the bus, and paid for her tap class - another £42. Yikes. She had jolly well better keep attending!
Then we trotted off to town with one of dd's friend, in the rain (ugh) to the bu1ldabear emporium, where they were just about able to choose a bear each. Once back home, they played, I made fleecy cardigans for the bears, and dh had the tricky job of making boots. The girls are both v happy with the makes, so all is well. And so am I, as we did not spend an arm and a leg on buying the items.
Using the buses so much meant that I quickly reached the upper limit and thereafter, it felt like free travel.
Have done a little knitting. The craft total for the month is rather low so far. Unlike the NSD and exercise ones :T.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I am so grateful today for lovely friends who gave us a lift home from church in their dry, warm car. On the way to church, dd had spontaneously burst into tears a couple of times as she was so cold and it really was miserable weather.
She has had an afternoon on utube to recover! Along with Matilda and Totally Spies on the box.
Dh has spent the afternoon working on my bike, mending the mudguard that I managed to break off with a sandaled foot a while ago... He has also rigged up a lamp in the kitchen as the light has gone - it only flickers.
Me? I have done a wash, and changed dd's bed - always a challenge to my hands as the mattress fits very snugly into the frame - putting on a brushed cotton sheet and squishing a double duvet into her single cover. She has been sleeping with 3 fleece blankets, her duvet, and sometimes her dressing gown or a towel over her, so I figured I should do something to stop her being so chilly, good mother that I am.
Back to the grindstone tomorrow...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
And how has week 3/12 gone?
Health: done a lot of walking though only 1 workout and run; still eating not very well much of the time; my hands and feet have been a litle achey - can't be due to caffeine as I still haven't had any; daily morning stretches.
Wealth: spent quite a lot (at least, that is what I think!) on dd's bday, but she is worth it; nowt changed re car; bus spends are as minimal as possible, but around £15 for the week; dh got a few extra hours clearing snow and ice; no ch shop purchases; sensible food shopping.
Life well lived : quiet times; some headspace; all the walking is doing my head some good; some cardi knitting done; a week's break from a particular game on my tablet has done me good - I have still played a couple of other games but they were wordy ones so activated my mind a little more.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Go me - over 19k steps today.
Was allowed to leave work early in order to have a nice chatette with an ofsted lady at dd's school, in my governor role. I tell you, the SLT team were run ragged. Thank goodness she only stayed one day.
Dh had ordered some replacement fluorescent strips for the kitchen online - half the price of the shops and delivered to the door. Result.
It seems that the work needed on the car would cost more than half the value of the car if it was fully functioning. YIKES. At least we know.... Our lovely mechanic is going to contact a contact to see if he will buy the car. So I'm on the bus for a while yet! Once the car is gone, and we reclaim tax, it might be interesting to see how long those pennies fund our bus travel for... But seeing as how I can't recall the renewal month, it may not amount to very much at all! Ooh, there's the insurance too.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Ouch re the car cost
Fingers crossed the contact buys it

Seems like the car will cost a 4-digit sum to fix. Ouch indeed. It is going.
I awoke at 4.56am, with a very sore throat and painful sinuses, so the day has been a little up and down. The one constant has been a box of balm tissues accompanying me everywhere.
I took a new bus today, to a hosp appt in a new location, which was all rather exciting. And I might have popped into the 5 charity shops, and only bought 1 knitting magazine for 50p. There were several near-buys, but sense prevailed.
On an up part of the day, I completed zcut cardio #10. And I also had a wonderful hot bath.
Had a good chat with big sis tonight. Once more, she is juggling a myriad of balls.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
