ZCUT cardio #7 done this morning - it was hard work.
Headspace done.
A few hours of kitchen time resulted in a) savoury bread and butter pud using dd's uneaten crusts, gammon from cmas, cheese, eggs and milk, b) brownies made from a mix I was given an awfully long time ago - it contains normal flour, so half is for dh and the other half has gone to a dear friend, c) gf cherry bakewells for dd, d) a tikka salmon curry cooked in the oven using a slab of salmon from dad's. All made from stores - v satisfying.
Also my 3rd NSD of the year!
Have decided not to go seeking a 'new' bike, so we have brought my bike in from the garage and will give it a little tlc. To be brutally honest, I am not up for cycling in the current weather and degree of darkness! With the oyster upper limit being £4.50 per day for just using buses, it wouldn't cost me too much to get the bus (up to 6 per work day), but it would still be faster to cycle...
Dh has 4 full days of extra work at the school this week, which is excellent, and will probably be enough to meet his 'goal' amount for the month. Go him! Btw, we set the goal number fairly low, so that it is achievable. But better that than a silly high out-of-reach number.
Today I am grateful for dd having a friend over for 5 hours, for dh having extra work, for successful kitchen time resulting in edibles, for my workout, for a beautiful frost this morning.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
After Greying Pilgrim mentioned a mrmoneymustache article (?), I pottered over to have a perusal. I like this blog entry:

First day back at work done. Had to wake dd early to say g'bye before trotting out for the bus. And I realised that I most certainly do not want to be cycling at 7am at the mo. Too frosty. Too dark. But I'll have done over 14,000 steps today :T. Spent £3 on bus fares, saving £1.50 by walking, so that is £1.50 towards the £3.99 I paid for some lobster cycling gloves. £2.49 to go.
Collected dd's prescription stuff on the way home, before the local health people decide to no longer make gf food stuffs available on prescription. It was like stocking up for cmas!

Not much movement on the car. Oh, how witty am I? We'll need to replace, but not rushing as we have hardly had 2 minutes to sit down together this week. We probably have already decided what we do/do not want as regards a vehicle, so simply need to clarify that.
In the meantime, I am using buses as much as possible - or walking (have done just over 15k both yesterday and today). The 'test' will be this weekend: off to dance on the bus (just the one) and then to church on sunday (prob 2 buses using the hopper thingy). Dh and I will be fine, it's whether the munchkin can manage it all.
Zcut cardio #8 got done today. As did headspace. And my reading.
Have got the dates for dd's school's pta fairs: Easter, summer and Christmas. Now I can compare them with my school and see what I want to do. I had rather large plans for last year that were scuppered by me working 4 days per week for the first 6 months, me falling ill, dad dying, mum having big memory issues. So at least I know that I need to be flexible! And that I still prefer my school's fairs.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
So, a total of 9 bus journeys today, all for £4.50.
Dd enjoyed dance and the new tap class. They have exams this term so that should keep her motivation going...
And this afternoon, we all bussed up to the 7 charity shop area, dropped off 2 bags to the Sally Army and pottered around. Got dd some converse pumps and, more importantly, some tracky trousers that fit round her middle and don't need hitching up every few steps during a PE lesson. No coffee shop was visited.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Week 2/12:
Health - morning stretches done every day; various workouts and plenty of walking; still have some achey toes; still no coffee.
Wealth - food shopping done well; good ch shop finds; 2 bags taken to SA which funded dd's converse from there; no car bought as yet...
Life well lived - quiet times; some headspace; back to work; working on making cycling a possibility; moving a teeny tiny bit further forward with mum stuff; still seeing counsellor.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Dd and I have been out for a little run - much needed after dd's comments about my squidge... She scootered while I 'ran' and we detoured to the playground where I used a swing to do some press ups and split squats (Bulgarian ones, no less), jumped onto a bench for a while, and then we trampolined together. Much fun was had.
Dh went to church to do the pa, so dd and I have had a noisy time playing pinball.
This week, I pledge to spend NO time playing the pop jewel game on my tablet. I use it as a major avoidance tactic for all kinds of things, so cold turkey it is. Who knows, I might get other things done instead...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Have made dd some snickerdoodles (no flour, but ground almonds), and us grown ups some savoury flapjack (think I was led to them via greying pilgrim's thread a while ago) and some savoury bread pudding using dd's crusts. Happy times in the kitchen.
We have done some paperwork for dad's house. Need to make a potentially long phone call tomorrow.
Dd is back to Brownies tonight, so some more steps to add to my current 12,000.
Tomorrow I have 2 cheques to pay in at different banks and 2 bags for the Sally Army, so shall jump on the buses and head up the hill. No coffee stop - I've been coffee-free for 3 weeks now and don't want to spoil the run yet.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Over 16k steps again. Go me! It was a good walk with dh, spending time together. We got the banking stuff done, found gf/df bicuits in the sainz in that area and vitamin 'sweets' for dd at £1.01 cheaper than sainz.
Dd and I have made her bithday cake and also some chocolate crispie cakes for her to take into school. Children often take in har1b0 so we thought it'd be nice to be different. We already had the choc crispie cereal, butter and cake cases, so the only spend was about 75p on cheap aldee choc.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
It is snowing!
Don't know if it will really stick, as it spent the day raining. I got rather soggy on my way home, moreso as the sole came off one of my joyous sturdy red boots and I hobbled wonkily to the bus stops! Then I got soggy again picking up dd as the pavement had mahoosive puddles, as well as the rain pouring down.
Today I am grateful for warm, dry clothes to change into, for losing the sole not meaning I was walking in my sock, for dd looking super cute in her monkey onesie, for the rain turning to snow, for my lovely dh.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
