Well, there you go. And back again. 9 hours after leaving the house this morning, we are back. The dodgy car got us to within 100 yards of dad's house and then decided to seize up. Completely. Clutch + gear box. Immobilised.

We love AutoAid! The first truck took us as far as Beaconsfield where he passed us on to another truck for the second leg. And we haven't had to pay a bean...

We ended up with about 1 hour in dad's house, enough for me to empty another box, clear the gubbins behind the sofa and pack up the 'special' stuff to bring home.

I may yet need to buy a bike... must do some sums...

  • Blimes apple muncher you have been through the mill! Pesky bloomin' automobile. They're great when they go right, but a right pain when they play up. Glad the rescue services came to your..... rescue :D A chap who worked for the 'yellow' rescue service was mentioned on R2 this morning. He'd been doing the xmas shifts but was retiring today - so I expect he had a bit of a spring in his step on his last shift.

I'm going to start my 12 week challenge from Saturday, for no good reason really, other than it gives me a little longer to think what I will include and it fits in with my weekly meal planning cycle, so happy days :D

We have already rounded up a load of things for the chazza anyway. We took them today, but somewhat predictably, that chazza was shut. Because of the nature of the stuff, I want to donate it to a particular charity, whereas of course, alot of charity shops were actually open in the town we went to today. Ah well, we'll sort it out at the weekend - at least the intention is there from both DH and I, so it should get sorted.

I am going to include weight loss in my challenge, but nothing drastic. I ideally have half a stone to lose to get me back to my pre-baby weight/bmi. So I will look to try to shed 3lb of that over the 12 weeks. It'll mean I don't keel over with stinting myself, but would get me so close to my final goal, with minimal effort. I might try to *tighten* several flabby bits up too................................ ;)

How satisfying for you that your DD loves her cardigan. Good job Mum! :D

Right, best get shifting and do some more gathering up if c*ap - get me nearer to my goals.

Thanks for dropping by, GP. I'm glad your plans are starting to take shape. I know what you mean about giving things to particular charities - I love the Sally Army so always give our bagfuls there.

Thank you all for the comments on the automobile issue. We have been out and about today sans voiture and en bus instead. Twas a 30+ minute journey to where we wanted to go. I had promised dd a visit to b+m at gma's, which obviously was not going to happen. So we went to our 'local one. And £land, the w0rks, the enterta1ner, w1lko and 2 charity shops. Dd spent some cmas money on 2 M0nster high dolls and was chuffed that they ended up £2 cheaper each at the till. The charity shops yielded up some wellies, a book and a pencil case for dd, a hoodie tee-shirt, some warm work trousers, 3 beautiful small clip-lid jars and a ski coat for me. Dh treated himself to some new fairy lights. A total of under £12. Not bad.

Dd wanted to sit upstairs on the way back, at the back, and I managed 5 mins and started feeling rather sick so moved much nearer the front rather pronto. Gor, it really threw me and took a couple of hours to get over. We are now watching Paddington - good family fun. P has just surfed down the stairs in the bath.

I am off to bham on my own later this week. Dd refuses to go (!) And dh has to work so it'll be just me. I just need to get the hang of teletransportation. Or the knack of clicking the heels of my red shoes together and thinking of where I want to go. Failing that, it'll be trains, shanks' pony and taxis.

    Flue travel aka Harry Potter?

Seriously sorry to read about car, was having a catch up read and do love the 12 week plan. Have been given a best self journal so will be also working on a 12 week plan!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Almost as good as flue travel. 4 hours door to door: bus, train, walk, train, train, 20mins walk. I arrived 1 hour earlier than expected, so put it to good use before lunch.

The garage yielded boxes and boxes of utter rubbish, though I still had to heave them around from place to place to be able to check them, and my back, shoulders and neck muscles all know how hard it was!

The kitchen floor has has a once over, but I reckon only my sister and I would know, as it is still pretty filthy.

The pantry is empty of all plastic, flasks (how many did they need??), plastic bags...

What to do tomorrow, then? I had thought the garage would take at least 2 days. After chhatting with dh and big sis, I have a few tasks:
    - find out about b city mission and if thry do house clearances. If not, try bhf.
    - give a few rooms a final 'once over'. I am finding it hard to acknowledge that we are at the point of letting others now remove stuff. But it is not even on the market yet, so will still be there for a while ...
    - I had a look in the freezer today - slabs of salmon and a couple of canadian crab may well be coming home with me (sis is a veggie, so she won't mind!)
    - take meter readings
    - go home :D

I slept soooo well last night. Bliss! And have woken to discover that the frost has gone, but that there are still blue skies.

My feet and hands are really quite achey after yesterday, especially my fingers. The 'arthritic reponse' flared up recently, due to having more than 1 cup of coffer per day over several days, I think, and Tues was v bad. So I haven't had a coffee since then! I know it'll take a few days to see/feel improvements, but it is good to be able to do something to help it.

Must go and get dressed, remove all traces of me having been here: wash up, dry up and clear away. Bed already sorted. Want to hoover, take recyc, then make phone calls. And then get over to dad's. Haven't mastered teleportation yet - must keep practising...
