I'm happy to taste test any slabs (of the chocolate type) for you AM. I'm very thoughtful like that.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

So what did you decide to do today? I'm with you on the overpriced drinks. I've been known to drink water instead.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Gally - you are indeed most thoughtful! You are welcome to swing by this armpit of ol' Blighty anytime you like for a test of the slabs.
Earthgirl -I opted out of going to a town 6 miles away (have to go on thurs for dd's eye appointment plus a compulsory look around the bu1ldabear emporium anyway) to a costly place with people who may include one (or two) who I do not like (cos they tried to get me sacked, you see). Instead, dh and I took a bag + pogo stick + scooter to the Sally Army shop and then had a coffee in Sbux. Infinitely better.
Dd is very happy to have finished school. Can't sayI blame her.
I did a workout this morning too - zcut #1, but without a press up or even a belly down on the burpee bit. And there were 50 burpee bits to do.
Have set up a 12-week plan. Goodness knows how/if I'll see it through, as I'm rubbish at the longer challenges I set myself. Hmmm. So why did I do it then? Possibly because it runs 25th Dec (hey, why not?) to 19th March. And we really need to be seeing light shining pretty brightly at the end of the tunnel by then. So it is a challenge for health, wealth and a life well-lived. And that includes: fitness, weightloss, eating habits, simplicity of life, prioritising the important stuff, mental well-being, spending mindfully, meditation, getting rid of baggage (eg a house!)...
Tomorrow I get my hair cut - cannot wait! I dyed it roughly for dad's funeral and haven't done it since - about 4 months now. I want a good haircut so that I can decide whether to continue to let it grow out, or have to start dying it again. I am a little struck by the amount of grey that now resides on my head...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Had a lovely but quick wander around a sainz at 8.30 this morning. Spent £22 on bis sis + co to send as a hamper of goodies. (Had looked to order stuff from amzn, but for more money, they'd only have got 5 items! Hindsight says I'd have paid even less at aldee, but I wasn't going that way) The shop was lovely and quiet, which I was pleased with.
Enjoyed my haircut and I like the result. Worth every penny.
Dd's cardigan is finished apart from the buttons which we hope to get tomorrow, if the market is on. Now I need to use a book I have to work out what to do to make another one big enough for bis sis. Who is decidedly NOT big at all, just a few years older than me. Then I just need 18 months to complete it... At least she won't grow out of it in that time...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Love this idea. Do you mind me asking how does it fit into a twleve week plan? - pick something new every week? A new focus per day? I'm rubbish at these things and tend to make stuff totally unachievable for myself!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Earthgirl - let's see if I can make sense...
12 weeks because that is the number Craig Ballantyne (early to rise . com) uses in his fitness challenges. And although I've never joined in with them, I so respect the bloke, and I do like the fact that it is not too long.
I try to have several strands, so that it is not simply 1 focus, but so that progress can be made is various areas. Hence the 'health, wealth and a life well-lived' part.
Health : my fitness needs improving and links exercise with moving generally with eating properly. For that I have opted to use Zuzka Light's ZCUT cardio series - 12 workouts, aim for 3 per week. I need to lose weight and going mostly sugar-free works for me - I'm just a greeedy guts at heart! Also, planning to consume 7 veg per day.
Wealth: ie money. Not got a lot coming in, but being careful with what we have and using it wisely is the focus. That said, we are certainly rich, and need to appreciate just how much we have. I also fully intend staying withthe monthly NST challenges.
A life well-lived: the rest of it! My own mental health; dealing with feeling guilty about not doing more for mum, yet not able to do more because I have dd who needs me more; dealing with feeling guilty about not doing more for my big sis; nurturing my soul, my mind, my emotional well-being; enjoying dd and dh; crafting things; sorting out dad stuff which leads on to mum stuff.
This12 week focus, more than any I have done before, should see a significant change in dad/mum stuff the most. Talking to friends today has shown me how much we have done and how clear we are about where we are going. Now I need to do as much as I can to facilitate the final solution.
Hope this doesn't sound too navel-gazingly airy-fairy. I've written this on my tablet but the plan is on my laptop, so Imay have missed bits out...
For me, the important thing is to have goals - where do I want to be at the end of the 12 weeks? How will I get there? Keeping notes is obviously rather vital, to see progress in the numbers, the workouts done, spending recorded, clearing out achieved, books read, bags taken to the Sally Army. I'll admit that I do struggle with focussing for 12 weeks, but the main aim is to get the house ready to sell and that's a big motivator.
Will stop wittering on now. Have fun creating your own personalised 12 week plan!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Hun, you 'copy' all you like. I would imagine that most FB's welcome donations of milk, at this time of year or any other. :T for making the donation is more to the point
Besides which, I'm going to 'right backatcha' because I think I'm going to 'emulate'your 12 week challenge. I'm not going to do quite the same - I loathe 'organised' exercise for a start - although I concur that good health is paramount for achieving everything else in life. But I can certainly factor fitness into a 12 week programme. I think my focus will be more on decluttering, organising and simplifying; 'Strengthening to sail-on' will be the byline. ie getting us closer to moving out of Greying towers, and moving on with our lives. We've had a bona-fide distraction with having BG, but it's time to move on now,
Thanks love - wouldn't have thought of doing a 'short, sharp, something' if I hadn't read what you were doing

Just 2 more sleeps to go...
Dd has worn her new and finished cardigan all day and plans to wear it tomorrow too - proud mummy here.
Dh has just found out that he has to still lock up dd's school next !!!!!!. So we had a quick chat and are going up to work on dad's house mon-weds. I am relieved that we are going to be able to go - I had been through all kinds of scenarios in my head (usually late at night, involving travelling by train because the car wasn't fit; taking/not taking dd/dh...) so am mightily relieved that we have reached a simple decision. We'll take the car and drive nicely.
Now to plan what to do when there... Garage 1. Remove all wood, if lovely friend has not yet had a chance to do it. Remove all tools and equipment to garage 2. Remove all metal for scrap man. Remove obvious rubbish.
In fact, if he is willing, dh could do all of that while I go through the stuff that needs to be gone through. The space available for working in is rather tight at the mo, until more is cleared, with only the one narrow route in and out of the garage, but I guess I could work further in whilst dh works from the doorway in... I'll have my usual trio of bags: rags, recyc and rubbish.
The plan: travel up mon morning and arrive for lunch. Work until about 4pm. Go to mum's and have a nice evening together. Sleep well. Breakfast well. Spend tues morning at dad's, have lunch, do something nice with dd, spend evening and night at mum's. Breakfast well again, do the morning at dad's eat lunch and head home. Not expecting to do any tip or charity shop runs, given that mon and tues are bank holidays.
And then we still have a week home together before going back to school.
Ooph. Enough musings. Only popped on for a quick read and have used up far too much brain power!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Merry Christmas everyone! We watched the Muppet Christmas Carol yesterday, singing along to the songs - great fun!
Dd, once again, won the 'who gets the most to unwrap' prize. She truly appreciated all she has been given, which is a lovely attitude. Dh and I were both pleased with our gifts - just as well, as we had both sourced them ourselves and given them to the other one to wrap. Satisfaction guaranteed.
The paper is recycled into the wrapping paper stash or paper recyc and most stuff is tidied away...because we are going away tomorrow. Yikes. I have packed clothing and toiletries for dd and I, she has made an attempt to decide which toys/books/designing stuff to take, some food is on the side, the rest will come out of the freezer in the morning. Dh has to sort 'imself out! We hope to be on the road so that we arrive at lunchtime. Best set an alarm, then...
Ooh, and I need to ponder some goals for 2017 to keep me on track...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
